You posted a few weeks back, being uncertain if Canada even had any trees!

You haven't ever visited here it seems, so I can understand you not being familiar with a foreign nation, nor it's geography.

When I say that we're only second to Russia with trees, I mean just that...  We have LOTS of fucking trees here, and our climate is perfect for them to grow right back!  It's a sustainable resource, and most of our homes here are built from said trees.

You can live in a tin shack if you want to save the trees, but here we prefer wood for single detached!

Ummm,,, where I say I was uncertain? Didn't I just finish telling this forum I have Canadians in my Save the Trees group. You haven't got as many trees as Australia... Puh-leeze. :001_rolleyes:

My home is built in double brick, aluminum trusses, with a colour bond Iron roof... my floors are cement with either ceramic tiles or carpet covering the cement. I have 5 inch Baltic Pine boards in the formal loungeroom... And Jarrah posts around my verandah.

In Western Australia, most of the houses are double brick. Double brick needs no wood.

We got lots of trees in Canada. Even in densely populated Southern Ontario, trees are ubiquitous.

Ok...
QuoteAustralia has a total of 134 million hectares of forest, which is equivalent to 17% of Australia's land area. Australia has about 3% of the world's forest area, and globally is the country with the seventh largest forest area.

How many trees are left in Canada?

All this talk of trees got me thinking, so I did a bit of research. It is estimated that Canada has about 9,000 trees for every man, woman and child in Canada — about 338,400,000,000 (338 billion). Forty per cent of our 979 million hectares is currently forest or covered by some type of forest vegetation.Nov 29, 2019

How Australia became one of the worst deforesters in the world

Urban sprawl is a problem in the areas where it occurs but it's a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of forest destruction just to produce livestock for pasture.

Brazil, Australia, and Indonesia should be ashamed.

And the state with the highest rate of land clearing is Queensland.

In that state, in 2015-16, about 395,000 hectares of native vegetation were cleared.

That can be hard to visualise, but it's an area roughly the size of Sydney or Melbourne. It's the equivalent of 1,500 football fields cleared per day.

"In Queensland alone it's estimated 45 million animals were killed in 2015-16 because of bulldozing of forests - everything from geckos to cockatoos," Dr Taylor said.

Justin Trudeau's plan to make Canada the sacrificial lamb for climate change symbolism. ac_toofunny  That is as wacky as his desire to make the world's second largest and one of the coldest nations carbon neutral in thirty years.

I don't know what you heard on your little fb group.but as I said this country has no shortage of trees. We even have trees growing in prairie regions where they didn't prior to European settlement.

Anonymous

Historically, Australia's worst deforestation took place long before European settlement. Early migration from what is now South-East Asia found a country with significantly more vegetation coverage for the local fauna.

So the newcomers burned it wholesale, enjoying barbecues of such scope and succulence that their like might never been seen again.

Interestingly enough, it was descendants of these Asiatic partygoers who set fire to Caskur's kitchen, but they were too drunk on cheap woobla to eat the fruits of their arson so the world was lucky there.

I actually met a guy who posted on these boards.

He's a White Canadian Guy who lives in Seoul, South Korea.

He told me the air is so dirty there its thick with smog.

Poor air quality in Asia may be another reason the coronavirus spread so much there.

Our environment and air quality are important seoulbro.

Thats probably one reason why coronavirus hssn't spread so much here & Csnadians are healthier than most countries.
