Hear-ye! Hear-ye! The Wenches are about to Walk!"

"Wenches Willing to Walk shall convene at the preordained location & time!"

"Be prepared to bestow your wubbys upon your chosen  Blokes and Rogues, Lads and Louts, Lords and Himbos and Sirs!"

Good times back in the day... :laugh3:

So there are theatrical performances like that in the faire?

Are the vendors playing some kind of a character when you go to buy something?

The entire Faire is a theatrical performance. Wench walks sponsored by the Wenche's Guild are only a small part of it.

Most vendors get onto character. At the very least they are dressed in pseudo period clothing...Renn Faires are supported by a cottage industry of craft and food vendors who travel from faire to faire most of the year. You will see the same vendors at different regional faires at different times of the year.

What's living in a big city got to do with it?

The NY Faire attracts up to 180,000 visitors during it's run. The visitors come from all over.

Big cities have things like that... There are bigger groups interested in marginal things.

Most Renn Faires are held in rual suburban areas where there are large fair grounds and open land. NY and Sterling do draw a certian amount of patrons from NYC but the majority of the people come from suburban NJ, NY State and Connecticut.

What is most amazing is where the concept of the Renn Faire comes from. It originated in California back in the early 1960s. Los Angeles schoolteacher Phyllis Patterson held  what is considered the first true Renaissance fair in the her backyard of her Laurel Canyon home. Anyone who knows anything about the counter culture of the 1960s should be familiar with the significance of "Laural Canyon" and the bohemian lifestyle that went with living there. At the height of the counterculture movement, Laurel Canyon became southern California's answer to Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco. But instead of psychedelic-focused performers like Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead, the canyon became a secluded haven for the more folk rock oriented performers like CSN, Joni Mitchell, The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield and Frank Zapa. Renn Faires just sort of grew out of the free love Southern California life style of the 1960s and then spread all over the country.

Just a little pop culture geek knowledge. :laugh3:

In Real Woman's present condition she has no choice. All food is liquefied to prevent choking.

Luckily for her husband sperm is still on the menu.

Her husband always knew what was going on and didn't care. He's a mormon and probably had another wife on the side.
