I went 4x4ing in the outskirts of Greenwood about 20 years ago...it was fuckin fascinating...little lakes of different colors, old abandonded mines everywhere, log cabins that are rotted to the base along with old tins and bottles probably from early 1900s....its just a memory now...I wonder how much it has changed since then?

The sites were beautiful and amazing!  Bring supplies and pack properly for that area...bring a shot gun too.

Greenwood is the ultimate example of small town...  Having traveled through there recently, I doubt much has changed.  Their street signs are unique, in that they use the "Wild West" font on them...

The cost would be ventilation/purification... testing for radon....

...but maybe a last resort destination....short term

It's not a long drift mine shaft...  Less than 100 feet long.  Ventilation may be an issue, and radon might be also...  Only a meter could verify air quality.

On the plus side, the creek is nearby.  That water can be consumed, most likely without even boiling it!

Runoff from old mines can carry toxic levels of heavy metals and things like mercury...

There are towns in Tasmania that can't drink their own water anymore decades after mining operations ceased...

I went through some of these little 100 person ghost towns.... pretty and rustic as a picture... remote.....and they get their water from plastic bottles or cartage trucks....

Canada is a bit different though...  We have water, and lots of it, which gets replenished every winter by snow...  Any toxins of old would've been flushed down the river decades ago!

Took this pic just down the road...  I would not hesitate to drink this water if I was thirsty.

So does Tasmania...

There's a reason they call it heavy metals runoff...

No, Tasmania doesn't.  I'm not sure you quite understand the amount of flow rivers here in BC have during the melt...

You don't know BC, so stop pretending.  Tasmania?  Give it up, Dinky...

Only when you have to shovel snow, does this equate to pure mountain melt offs in the Spring/Summer.

You cannot have this where you live, so give it up!

Lots of younger Ozzies come to Canada for the real snow!  For the real mountains!  For the real water!

They like Whistler...  but they may spread!

I would welcome more White Ozzies if they came to The Koots!

Tasmania rests in the low digits for a good portion of the year, is full of volcanic rocks, and above all RAIN and SNOW...

Its peaks might not get the heights of portions of BC, but it is a frigid and wet place...

Do your research next time, kid... or travel.
Blahhhhhh...

Maybe it was an escape tunnel back to Japan, Mel.

You should follow it and get some fresh Sashimi and Unagi.

Grab me an order of Udon!

I walked to the end (I carry a flashlight for emergencies)...  Just the opening (well hidden), and then an unlocked steel door halfway through, and then the end!

I'll bet there's more room in there than under the rock where you normally live.

Quick gather up your bedding and your bottles of vinegar. Don't forget to inform BC Liquors of your address change. You wouldn't want to miss a delivery.

Are you from South East BC?
