You need to put the crack pipe down and come back to reality.

No, I just live in factual reality instead of deranged conspiracy theory land.  You should try it sometime.

You think the States didn't instigate the war?

Oerdin

No, Russia decided to invade.  That is what instigated the war.

Harris offering NATO membership to Ukraine was not a factor?

Oerdin

Harris didn't offer Jack shit and doesn't have the power to do anything of the kind.  Pure falsehood.  What NATO did say was eventually Ukraine might be allowed to join NATO but the process would likely take 20 years or more as Ukraine needed drastic reforms to be completed before it could be allowed in.  That policy was agreed in 2008.  Ukraine made very little progress on the M.A.P. process though.

Yeah, sure, whatever....

It's obvious that your cognitive dissonance is rather thick and no minds will be changed.
Blahhhhhh...

Oerdin

It is just reality and has been the official NATO position since 2008.  So one of us is having trouble reconciling with reality but it is definitely you.

There were provocations by NATO and the US.

t has become especially fashionable in such circles to insist that NATO's expansion to Russia's border was in no way responsible for the current Ukraine crisis. Many dismiss all arguments to the contrary as "echoing Putin's talking points," "siding with Putin," or circulating Russian propaganda and "disinformation." Leaving aside the ugly miasma of McCarthyism enveloping such allegations, the underlying argument is factually wrong.

Russian leaders and several Western policy experts were warning more than two decades ago that NATO expansion would turn out badly—ending in a new cold war with Russia at best, and a hot one at worst. Obviously, they were not "echoing" Putin or anyone else. George Kennan, the intellectual architect of America's containment policy during the Cold War, perceptively warned in a May 2, 1998 New York Times interview what NATO's move eastward would set in motion. "I think it is the beginning of a new cold war," he stated. "I think the Russians will gradually react quite adversely and it will affect their policies. I think it is a tragic mistake."

Yet Washington still refused to back off. Instead, the Trump and Biden administrations poured weapons into Ukraine, approved joint military exercises between U.S. and Ukrainian forces, and even prodded the allies to include Ukraine in NATO war games.

In late 2021, it became clear that the Kremlin's restraint had run dry. Moscow issued demands for security guarantees, including a draw‐down of military forces already deployed in NATO's eastern members. With respect to Ukraine, the demand was very clear and uncompromising: Not only would Kyiv never receive a membership invitation, but NATO weapons and troops would never be deployed on Ukrainian soil. When the West failed to provide those guarantees, Putin launched his devastating, full‐scale war.k

Frood

Basically.... yes.

You can't push a former superpower with even better tech now to subscribe to your one world government vision.

NATO and by default the major portion of NATO (the US) have continued to box Russia in despite all the guarantees.

This isn't a very recent revelation for Russia... they saw the signs in the 90's but couldn't act on them at the time.

So Russia bit it's tongue until they were strong enough to withstand further provocations.... and ain't that the way of formerly powerful nations reduced into rubble or poverty.

The West wants Russia like a creepy old paedophile wants his granddaughter's friends at a sleep-over.

It's disgusting to watch old USSR vs America Cold War rhetoric play out all over again, and for the most part, Russia is pretty fucking innocent.

Putin is a cunt and deadly against his adversaries... but so were all the people like Muammar Gaddafi, Bashar al-Assad, Saddam Hussein.... yet they held their nations or hold them in some sense of civility.... but that civility doesn't welcome Western think-tank incursions.... so that's why we western peoples will suffer this winter and summer, possibly starve ourselves, and go into massive debt.
Blahhhhhh...

Anyone who days independent nations should not be freely able to pick their defense associations is at best an imperialist and at worst a fascist.  They all decided to join NATO off their own free will because they knew what evil sons of untrustworthy bitches Russians are.  Russia doesn't get to decide that only they get to decide for themselves.  There is also a reason Ukraine wants to join (though is not being allowed to do so) because it wants safety and freedom from Russian imperial ambitions.

No, that is not a "provacation" that is free people deciding what is in their own best interests exactly like independent countries should do.

Odinson

If I were Putin, I would be placing those defensive ballistic nuclear attack missiles on Cuba again.

The Cubans have the right to decide for themselves.

Its not a provocation.

I wonder how long it will be before Russia descends into chaos & social upheaval. Putin sent all the poor people & minorities to fight & die in this war. Surely those affected will eventually realize this disparity of unequal treatment and will revolt.

Ay some point theyre just gonna decide they won't stand for it anymore.
