They like desserts in the South, especially sugary pies.

Tis true lol.

Im more of a pie person than a cake person. My favorite is coconut cream pie.

All in moderation though!!!

In my opinion you can't beat an apple pie, still warm from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I made a couple ladies apple pies for their birthdays this past year lol, my mom's recipe.

I also like this salted caramel chocolate almond pie, so good.

My husband likes meat pies, but not the sweet kind.

Frood

Just had a steak and mushroom meat pie....
Blahhhhhh...

Montana's sells meatpies in the grocery chains. I have never tried one, but if you like meatpies, it is probably worth trying.

Occasionally I'll buy frozen meat pies..

I prefer deli made ones better......Safeway delis sometimes have them.

learn how to make cornbread, if you don't already know.... and get about 3 or 4 good pieces of cast iron.... a dutch oven and some skillets are ideal.... you can setup a makeshift kitchen and knockout a meal in an hour or so.... i use beef jerky in beans, if i can't find any bacon.... get a nice supply of chopped and dried onions and chopped and dried bell pepper to add also.... plus some crushed red pepper flakes, if you like spicy type food.... you can keep your whole kit in the trunk of your car....

I've got a Lodge cast iron skillet and pot combo that can be used together.

How is country ham different than any other ham?

Frood

It spits tobacco juice and wears a straw hat.

The only Southern US food that matters is fried chicken.
