I have been critical of the Canadian government, and its Prime Minister. I have been critical of the response to the Canadian crisis by some members here, particularly cc.



I believe my fellow Australian protagonist on this issue has followed the same path. We have also been critical of SOME of our governments action from the very beginning of this plague.  



But what we don't do is to offer some puerile, silly and disrespectful insult about Canadians as a nation, especially from a position of anonymity.

I had boots on the ground in Lincoln Fields when the whole "it's okay to punch a nazi" craze broke out circa 2018. Its loudest proponents were the university students... I had to ask a couple of them if they really considered their position on the matter - that if they were prepared to dish out violence, were they also prepared to receive it. Oh no, that was different... they were the do-gooders...



It saddened me more than I cared to admit. Up to that point Canada had seemed a more egalitarian place, a place where people worked more closely together, trading strength for strength. But that day I saw the societal rot getting ready to rise up.



There it is. I still don't believe violence solves the problem; in this instance they want the justification to beat the ever loving shit out of you, but just how long are you expected to endure getting trampled and bashed and very likely worse... indefinitely?



I dont believe him for a moment when he says the measures are time limited. 15 days to slow the spread turned out to be a lie and I've already heard ministers crapping on about making aspects of the emergency act permanent. i sncerely hope representative democracy might be clawed back, I might even return consider returning home to visit if it does, but now is definitely not the time.
