Much later, after I'd grown up and moved from that neighborhood, I heard they were trying to ban/discourage overnight camping at MacAfee's Knob because people were leaving too much trash, tagging the big rocks, etc.



Such a shame... it really is/was a nice spot to camp at the end of an afternoon's hike.

I have a few from my time after graduation (in the USAF) that I've scanned, but digital cameras weren't really a thing yet so I don't have a lot of pics from any era really. That's probably why I very rarely take selfies even today... stuff like that just isn't part of my lived experience.

Another from my time in the USAF:

This was taken during an exercise; I was moving some pilot's equipment to another building because they decided ours had been blown up or whatever.

It's so hard to make out because it's a photo of a newspaper clipping (the base newspaper, 'The Flyer' if I recall correctly).
