Another bad decision by the US Supreme Court.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito on Sept. 14 temporarily placed on hold a lower court ruling that restricted federal agencies from contacting social media firms with requests to remove content while the justices consider how to handle the case.

His order froze a recent appeals court decision that found that federal officials likely violated First Amendment protections by coercing some platforms into deleting certain posts and content. A lawsuit was filed by Missouri and Louisiana last year against the Biden administration, accusing federal officials of trying to censor people with certain viewpoints.

A district judge in July blocked a multitude of federal agencies from communicating with social media firms, while the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Sept. 8 partially upheld the ruling. The appeals court allowed certain agencies to still contact those companies and argued that the lower court's order was too broad.

Justice Alito's order pauses the lower court's decision until Sept. 22. The justice, who was nominated by President George W. Bush, is the justice designated by the court to act on matters coming from several states, including Louisiana.

Any response to the application has to be filed with the Supreme Court by 4 p.m. on Sept. 20, Justice Alito ordered.

The court's action on Sept. 14 came just a few hours after the Biden administration had asked the court to put the lower court's order on hold while it prepares a formal appeal.

An armed man impersonating a federal agent was arrested at an event in California where Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was speaking. He attempted to access the event, and identified himself as a member of Kennedy's security detail.

The scary incident occurred less than two miles from where the 69-year-old presidential hopeful's father – Sen. Robert F. Kennedy – was assassinated on June 5, 1968, by Sirhan Sirhan, just hours after winning the Democratic California presidential primary.

The Supreme Court's landmark decision last year on the right to carry guns outside the home for self-defense purposes didn't invalidate the longstanding gun law that bars felons from owning firearms, according to an opinion written by a circuit court judge.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit wrote that the Supreme Court decision on the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. Bruen "created a new test for determining the scope of the Second Amendment," but it didn't "appear to question the constitutionality of longstanding prohibitions on possession of firearms by convicted felons."

"If anything, Bruen contains two potential signs of support for these prohibitions," an opinion written (pdf) by 10th Circuit Judge Robert Bacharach said in a separate case.

From coast to coast, multitudes of Canadian parents, students, and other critics of LGBT indoctrination took to the streets this week as part of the One Million March for Children.

Pre-emptively demonized by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau; the leader of his allied socialist party, Jagmeet Singh; and other leftist politicians, the protesters emphasized Wednesday that educators have no business secretly grooming children and pushing radical gender ideology in the classroom.

The group that organized the protests noted on its website that it comprises people of diverse backgrounds and faiths who have come together to advocate for "the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools."

In Canadian cities such as Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Ottawa, Toronto, and Vancouver, thousands of protesters carried signs that read, "Leave our kids alone," "Hands off our kids," "Parental choice matters," and "You don't own our kids."

Trudeau, tweeted, "Let me make one thing very clear: Transphobia, homophobia, and biphobia have no place in this country. We strongly condemn this hate and its manifestations, and we stand united in support of 2SLGBTQI+ Canadians across the country – you are valid and you are valued."

NDP leader, Jagmeet Singh joined counter-protesters in Ottawa, carrying a rainbow banner that said, "Pride not prejudice."

Jason Schilling, president of the Alberta Teachers' Association, told the Herald, "Using 'parental consent' as camouflage, this rally was part of a coordinated strike across North America to promote misinformation, intolerance, and hate toward the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, as well as toward teachers who work to protect the safety and well-being of all students."

Rachel Notley, Alberta's former premier whom voters overwhelmingly rejected in 2019, claimed, "Those who seek to normalize trans hate will then move on to racism and misogyny. We can't let that happen."

The leader of the Alberta socialist party accuses parents who are interested in their kids' education of trans hate. Next they will be racists and misogynists according to Rachel Notley. This is a classic example of liberal bigotry. Minority parents are just as interested in what is taught in classrooms as any parents are.

A man is now facing assault and murder charges after he reportedly fired a gun into a fast food restaurant in Las Vegas at the drive-thru window on September 7. He was apparently terminated from his job there just hours before.

KLAS-TV reported that David Bravo, 25, became enraged after his shift leader at a Popeyes restaurant said that one of his shifts had been changed. When Bravo threatened to walk out, he was told that he would be fired if he did so. The restaurant's location was at Sunset Boulevard and Decatur Boulevard.

A recent poll from RealClear Opinion Research found that one-third of registered Democratic respondents feel Americans have "too much freedom to speak freely."

The poll, released in September, surveyed 1,000 individuals. Of those interviewed, 377 identified as Democrats, 369 as Republicans, and 255 as independent or "other."

The poll found that 34% of Democratic respondents believe Americans have "too much freedom to speak freely," while 14.6% of Republicans agreed. Only 22% of Democrats stated that Americans have too little freedom compared to 46% of Republicans. Independent voters were split down the middle for both questions.
