This has been covered by at least a coupla other artists, including Toby Keith.   I saw Mike Hosty live years ago, but I can't remember who he opened for:

I saw a band play a version of this at a bar in Winnipeg.

This gem is from Humble Pie's  eponymous third album released in 1970. The album cover stands out, too. This is from Wikipedia:

"Humble Pie is often referred to by fans as the Beardsley Album as the main feature of the cover artwork is The Stomach Dance, a 1893–94 drawing by English illustrator-author Aubrey Beardsley, who is known for his Japanese woodblock influenced grotesque, decadent, and erotic illustrations."

Anyway, here is "One Eyed Trouser Snake Rumba":

Tall Stories was formed in 1988. I stumbled across their 1991 album yesterday and have been giving it a listen. I admit to being kinda puzzled it didn't climb the charts. Of note is the lead singer Steve Augeri is formerly of Journey:

This is yet another band I stumbled across by accident. Originally called "The Goodyear Pimps", sometime along the way and for reasons unknown to me, it got shortened to "The Pimps".  Formed in 1994, they hailed from Rockville, Illinois.  I like the sound of this number. I highly recommend you play it L-O-U-D:

This is an outright rarity I stumbled across less than an hour ago. I almost moved on without a listen.  But, with a band name like The Baytovens, it woulda been a crime to not at least give it a brief once over.

Usually, these old 60s garage band recordings are comparatively primitive; some are just bad. Well, this one was neither. While relatively simple, it is well done. The band formed on 1964 and broke up in April of 1967, shortly after this recording was released:

Probably too mellow for most (and no vocals! Yuck! LoL) but I love this album:

Hey, it's ambient music and you like what you like. Go to sleep with it on a loop and see what kind of dreams you get.

I originally picked up the vinyl album because I liked the cover art then when I strapped on the headphones and listened to it: wow. It was how I imagine people who are really into meditation feel when they're deep deep down and perfectly balanced; like a waking dream.

Okay maybe the weed had something to do with that but still... LoL

I've had similar experiences. I remember buying the Rembrandt Pussyhorse album by The Butthole Surfers just because I couldn't stop laughing about such an absurd band name. (I've since learned it's one of Herman's favorite bands.)

Seriously, that was one of the drawbacks to CDs - they weren't big enough to enjoy the album art, at least not to the same extent as you could with vinyl.

Amen.
