As you folks know I am a volunteer in the prairie independence movement. We are starting with Alberta, but Saskatchewan is next and then rural Western Manitoba and Eastern BC.

Even old Pierre had won it would have only delayed the inevitable. The federal government in this country is rotten to it's core. Robbing one region to bribe another is unethical and unsustainable.

Besides Canada is quickly turning into a third world shithole.

Alberta will hold a referendum next year. If it's successful, Saskatchewan will do the same. Then Eastern BC and Western Manitoba will hold referendums to leave their provinces and join the new Western Canadian alliance.

I used to support a Western Canadian independent nation, but I think that aint doable. The reason is simple, Canada is evil and they will rip us off. Therefore, I support us becoming part of the US.

If Alberta votes fifty percent plus one next year and the Trump administration recognizes their independence it is game over for Canada. Then they can start negotiating union with the US.

We're done footing the bill while bureaucrats in Ottawa profit off our resources. This abusive relationship needs to END!

For folks like us, independence isn't just a cause-du-jour, it is a pressing necessity to protect our families, in hopes that our children may one day have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The reason independence movements tend to stall is that active participants grow frustrated with a perceived lack of progress. Sometimes they turn on each other, and sometimes they turn on fellow Albertans who are currently outside the movement.

My lone piece of advice to Albertans seeking independence is to refrain from venting your frustration on folks outside the movement. It just makes us look weak and thin-skinned.

Instead, try respectfully asking them questions:
"Why, after 40 years of this debate, do you think Alberta continues to fall further behind?"
"If Canada works, why do the same provinces always receive funding and Alberta always pays?"
"What is Alberta actually doing differently this time to be taken seriously?"

Does Berry Sweet live in the Kootenays? We are organizing there too.

These are some of the reasons why I left Canada. It is no longer the land of opportunity that we immigrated to in the 90's.

Trump is saying Canada will become the 51st state tongue-in-cheek, but let's face facts, the Great White North is becoming a failed poor country. Something has to change and soon.

There are going to be 2 sovereignty referendums in Canada in the next 2 years--Alberta and Quebec. A yes vote in Alberta will mean the end of Canada. Saskatchewan will join them.

I have no intention of ever living in Canada again. My only dog in this fight is that I want Alberta to use the US dollar instead of the Canadian peso. Other than that, I don't give a fuck what happens to Canada or any part of it.

She lives in Vancouver as far as I know. I guess she could have moved. I know she hates that city.

She seemed to be interested in the movement.

The premiers of Alberta and Saskatchewan both made demands of the new PM. They did not do that with Trudeau.

That indicates to me they think Carney is more reasonable.

Then again, it could be they have both had enough and are not going to tolerate the Liberal Party's abuse anymore.

I wish the feds would respect Alberta and Saskatchewan's jurisdictional rights, but today's Liberal Party are control freaks. So, that seems unlikely.

Carney is not reasonable at all. He is a committed globalist who believes the working class needs to come under his WEF thumb.

𝗡𝗼 — 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮 𝗗𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲
There's a persistent myth floating around that if Alberta ever voted to separate from Canada, it would require the approval of 7 out of 10 provinces (representing at least 50% of the population) for it to happen. That's not true — not in the way people think.

That 7/10 formula refers to constitutional amendments under Canada's Constitution Act, 1982 — the so-called "7/50 Rule" — which governs changes to federal structures, like the Senate or the Supreme Court. 𝗜𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲'𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

If Alberta held a 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 on separation with a clear majority in favor, then 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮 — 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 (7 provinces representing 50% of the population of Canada) — 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲. That's not optional. This was made crystal clear in the 𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟴 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗤𝘂𝗲𝗯𝗲𝗰.

What the Court said:
A clear referendum result would give Alberta a 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 to pursue secession.
Canada's Constitution requires 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘃𝗲𝘁𝗼.

The other provinces and the federal government must 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

𝗦𝗼 𝗻𝗼, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟳/𝟭𝟬 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 "𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲" 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗮'𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁. What they must do is 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲, and how those negotiations go would shape the path forward — peacefully or not.

Bottom line: A successful referendum in Alberta doesn't trigger a provincial permission slip. 𝗜𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼 𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺, 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁.

.

And supposing the province wishing to secede considers their exit non-negotiable, what then?

Canada is one of the few countries with sub sovereign governments that provides a legal pathway for their exit.
