Taiwan is the most democratic and liberal Chinese jurisdiction in the world. The city of Taipei does have a gay day fest/parade or whatever. The diff is you don't see half naked old Chinese men with phallic symbols in front of children in the middle of the day. I guess they are respecting Chinese standards of modesty.
