The two racist parties that cc la femme supported did really badly.

UKIP leader Nigel Farage is resigning after he failed to win Thanet South, losing by nearly 2,800 votes to the Conservatives.  UKIP only got 1 seat.

The BNP did not win any seats.  That is expected since they almost disappeared from British Election after Nick Griffin quit last year.  The membership in the BNP dropped by 90%.

Despite the Left's promise to increase welfare and reverse many of the Right's economic measures, the British people rejected them.



In western democracies, the Left is being repulsed on a grand scale.



Socialism is seen as the cause of many sociological problems created by multiculturalism, excess welfare, policies favouring the idle and antisocial, and economic mismanagement.



The world is turning to the right...

Not the Western world Sox. It's not the 1990's anymore with government of all stripes implementing spending/tax cuts, smaller government, deregulating the economy and balanced budgets.



Federally, we have a nominally conservative government, but the truth is they are socialists compared to the 90's Chretien Liberals.



Provincially, in election after election, decade after decade, Albertans have voted for a big-spending party that gave them stuff on a scale most provinces could only dream of, squandered their money on various mad "diversification" schemes, and involved itself in all of the meddlesome busywork you would expect to find in any modern bureaucratic state. Under Peter Lougheed it even had its own airline. It may have had the word Conservative in its name, but that was all it was: a word.



The province spent more than most, paid its employees more — then was shocked to find that it could not sustain itself on this lifestyle at less than $100 a barrel.

That's true more generally of so-called "progressive" parties: Liberal, NDP or Green. I've said it before: The left is winning. They are raising taxes, they are running deficits, they are adding whole new government programs, like carbon trading or the Ontario pension plan — all things they were told were politically impossible. Of what comparable victory can the right boast in recent years? In what important way has government become smaller? What industry has been deregulated? What Crown corporation has been privatized? What corporate subsidy has been eliminated?



Has the tax system grown simpler and flatter or more complicated? Are there fewer needless intrusions on personal freedom? Are the toxic fixations of identity politics any less dominant a concern under Conservative than progressive parties? Conservatives used to talk confidently about rolling back the frontiers of the state. Now they don't talk about anything much. Oh wait, I've just been handed this press release from Rona Ambrose: the Conservatives will impose "comply or explain" gender quotas on corporate boards. Hallelujah. You'd never catch a Liberal or NDP government doing that.



Which is to say, part of the reason the left is winning is that it is the only side showing up. The left pushes, and the right does not push back — doesn't offer its own alternatives, certainly, or even a serious critique. Because it doesn't have one, really. We are back to the 1960s and 1970s, when the expansion of the state was a one-way ratchet — growing during periods of left-wing rule, barely held in check under the right — and the only alternative the right could offer was "we'd do it less expensively."

I do not approve of segregating females! The Labour leader didn't either.

Harriet Harman has given a partial justification of a gender-segregated Labour election rally, saying it was "better than a men-only meeting" and it would have been "rude" to boycott it.



The Labour Deputy leader said she did not "agree" with a meeting attended by senior Labour figures where Asian men and women were separated along gender lines, but she said it was an attempt to get more women from the Muslim community involved in politics.



It would have been better if the meeting had decided to "sit round in a big circle", she suggested.



"We don't agree with sex segregation. We didn't agree with it in higher education, and we don't agree with it in politics either," she told LBC Radio.

"This meeting was organised by a male Labour councillor and a female Labour councillor, and what they were trying to do is ensure there weren't men only meetings, which we are even more not in favour of it.



"It was actually bringing the women from the community into the meeting. But no, sex segregation in seating is not a good idea. But it's better than men-only meetings. We want to have meetings where men and women are on equal terms.



"I don't know the young woman Muslim councillor who organised this, but I bet I would be backing her up in getting more women from that community involved."



"I'm not a boycotting type of person, and if people are there I don't like to be rude and walk out of things. I perhaps would have discussed with the young woman councillor if we could have all sat together. Probably, I would have said let's all sit round in a big circle and mix everything up."



"We are for women's equality and women's progress. We want that for every woman in all communities. There's no uncertainty about that."

Voters who give ANY party a clear majority in ANY country these days are dumb.

Every time a majority gets in, special interest groups always get favored at the expense of the majority.

So what really happens is the a 'majority' ends up ruling for a minority in the population.

Its akin to having 5 stores selling the same product. Well of course the more stores you have, the lower the price is for the consumer because there's more competition. But as soon as a few of those stores go out of business, the price goes up. And the remaining stores make up a faux excuse such as they had to do it to remain in business. But of course they could always afford to sell it at the lower price, they just don't want to pass the benefits on to the consumers. Likewise, a majority guv could do a lot more for its people, but they just don't want to. Because they're not accountable, they choose to dole out favors for their friends while witholding help for the rest of the population, which is the majority.
