Example 1

John and Jane are married with two kids: Michael, 5, and Ava, 3. John and Jane are currently receiving their UCCB of $100 per month per child. They will automatically receive the enhanced UCCB payments of $160 per month per child, starting in July 2015. In addition, John and Jane will receive a retroactive payment of $720 ($360 for each child) for the period of January to June 2015.

Example 2

Ron and Gloria have a 2-year-old daughter, Linda. They have never applied for or received the Canada child tax benefit (CCTB) or the UCCB. They can apply for both benefits online by using "Apply for child benefits" through the CRA's My Account online service. Or they can complete Form RC66, Canada Child Benefits Application, and send it to their tax centre with the supporting documents.

Example 3

Patrick has two children in his care: Ben, 8, and Carter, 4. Patrick is currently receiving the CCTB for both his children and the UCCB for Carter. Until Ben reached 6 years of age, Patrick received the UCCB payments for him. Since his parental status has not changed, he will also receive the enhanced UCCB payment for Ben. Patrick will automatically receive the enhanced UCCB payments, including the January to June 2015 payments, for both his children starting in July 2015.

Example 4

Stephanie, who has a 12-year-old daughter from her first marriage, used to receive UCCB payments. Now that Stephanie is in her second marriage with full custody of her daughter and joint custody of her stepchildren, her living situation has changed. Stephanie should contact the CRA either through My Account or by calling us at 1-800-387-1193 to make sure that her information on file is up to date.

Example 5

Peter and Jessica have three children: Morgan, 15, Stacey, 5, and Joshua, 3. Jessica currently receives UCCB payments for Stacey and Joshua, and will automatically receive the increased UCCB payments in July 2015. Jessica has never applied for or received the CCTB or UCCB for Morgan, but is now eligible for the enhanced UCCB payments. Jessica will have to apply to receive the enhanced UCCB for Morgan.

Example 6

Pat and Cindy are married with two kids: Gary, 13, and Josh, 16. Pat and Cindy are currently receiving CCTB for both of their children but not UCCB since both children are over six years of age.  Since Pat and Cindy are already receiving CCTB, they will automatically receive the enhanced UCCB payments of $60 per month per child, starting in July 2015. In addition, Pat and Cindy will receive a retroactive payment of $720 ($360 for each child) for the period of January to June 2015.

Example 7

Sarah is a single parent with three young children; Laura, 4, Megan, 3 and an eight month old son, William. She has applied for and is receiving the CCTB and the UCCB for all three of her children. Currently, Sarah is getting a UCCB payment of $300 per month ($100 per month per child under six). In July 2015, Sarah will automatically receive the increase to the UCCB for all of her children, that's an additional $180 per month or a total monthly UCCB payment of $480 ($160 per child per month). In addition, Sarah will also receive a retroactive UCCB payment of $1,080 to cover the period between January and June 2015.

Middle class?!  They are taking money from the middle class and giving it to the rich and poor alike.

Rather than steal our money, and hand a pittance back to wage earners while the majority goes on the losers and the big end of town, how about reducing the tax burden, which is by far the biggest cost of living expense for the middle class.

The "poor" receive money for nothing, and the wealthy simply up the price of whatever crap it is they sell.

Totally agree.  Gotta love the political flyers they send out saying "more money for your family" then they go raise the prices on everything.  How does that help?

This is fantastic news for people with kids. The NDP plans to keep these populist ideas of the Conservative government as well as add their 5 billion dollar per annum and 15 dollar a day child care scheme.

The NDP plan's for health care and child care affordable over the first four years, but their cost levels rise dramatically in the long term. Something like 10 billion dollars per year more than the Conservative plan. Either they will have to raise taxes or cut spending in other areas. For these reasons, I will be giving my support to the Conservative party in the October election.

Fantastic news my ass.  People seem to forget that the Liberals were bringing in Universal Child Care.  The Cons ditched it for $100/kid/month for "flexible" child care options.  That pays for sweet fuck all plus it was taxable.  Now we're getting more of the same?  As the saying goes, "Bitch please!"

The Conservatives know they have a winner with this one. They are forcing opposition parties to run on their own ideas. All the parties want to maintain the basic framework of universality, with the NDP copying it and then adding their own 15 dollar a day program on top of that. The Liberals propose a form of means testing which is ironic because in the past they were vehemently opposed to that idea.

Along with the family tax cut, increasing the contribution to tax free savings accounts and income splitting, they are fishing for the suburban two kid family votes. Even if they lose the election, the winning party will be in a difficult position with voters if they cancel these populist gems.

Before you celebrate Government largesse, please think about where the money comes from.

Taxation was based on funding social infrastructure, such as roads and civil defence. It is now a means of controlling society and distributing wealth whether we like it or not. It is unsustainable. No work, no money. No government welfare.
