I'm an Irish recovering addict. People in my family die from sobriety. I gotta have one addiction or I won't make it. Lol

You are of Irish descent Dove?
indeed I am.

I know a lot of Christmas traditions from different European cultures, but nothing in the Irish tradition?

Modern day Christmas traditions in Ireland are similar to the traditions practiced all over the UK.

A notable tradition is the hanging of wreaths on the door of your home. That tradition originated in Ireland and traditionally the wreath is made of holly, not pine.

The real Christmas traditions in Ireland are pagan and they surround the Yule holiday which is the winter solstice. They include the burning of the Yule log, the hanging of mistletoe, etc.

"Nollaig Shona Duit": pronounced as 'null-ig hun-a dit'. is Gaelic for "Happy Christmas".
\"A man\'s rights rest in three boxes. The ballot-box, the jury-box and the cartridge-box.\"

Frederick Douglass, November 15, 1867.
