Quote from: "RW"Many of those "rules" are legal and social norms.

Because they are in large part common fucking sense!!!

Don't kill. Don't steal. Don't lie against others. Honour your parents.

But then, many are sheer lunacy; don't use birth control, don't eat meat on Friday, don't masturbate, don't divorce...
Again, catholics. Smh.  No where in the bible are Christians told these things.

It's better to masturbate than commit fornication because at best it corrupts only one person..

Masturbation usually involves fantasy, visualization, and often pornography..

The teaches that we must not look lustfully at each other. You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5]

Let your kids learn about sex in the street, like I did.

Just kidding. :laugh3:

Sex Ed in schools is vitial in today's day and has been since before I went to school. I see nothing wrong with it provided it is taught in a age appropriate way under a controlled environment.

I don't trust the government in my province and I would never give them permission to indoctrinate my children about something so precious as that.

My kids were 5 and I taught them after a class taught by a doctor of sexual health.

Yeah and your kids are the kids that get the 10 year old version of sexual education on the playground.  I don't trust my kids' sexual health to other kids.

That's not how my brother and I learned of human relations and sexuality RW.

How did you learn it Fash?

And you know sex Ed isn't just about sex right?

Mine were taught early as well. It is especially important for girls to know what's what as early as possible because any sexual mishap leaves them holding the bag.

I also believe that a one size fits all approach is wrong for Sex Ed. It works much better when the emotional an mental maturity of the child is taken into account. My oldest was taught very early I think around age 6 bit then again she was old for her age. Her younger sisters were taught early as well. But how much of it sunk in the first time around for ditz 1 and ditz 2, as I like to call them, I don't know. Thankfully they get it now.

As for the youngest, she's only 3 but she's a lot like me; she will sit and listen intently to anything if there is a promise of a cookie attached to it.  :laugh3:

Like most Taiwanese parents my parents did not discuss sexual relations, but I do with my children..

It was an ongoing process with a solid foundation starting with the Garden of Eden and how God created both male and female and told them to reproduce themselves..

He created a man and woman who could make babies by loving each other in a special way..

God also knew that a man and a woman would grow to desire a special companionship that includes enjoying the differences in each other's bodies..

And, although this final point may need to wait until children are able to grasp it, we can teach that God gave the marital relationship as a sign and symbol of the internal love of the Trinity and His love for us..

So, sexuality provides at least three basic lessons that our children can understand. Sexual union exists: (1) to make babies, (2) to nurture a mommy and daddy's love, and (3) to point us back to the love of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

RW

Okay and how about menstruation, masturbation, safe sexual options, peer pressure, wet dreams, STDs, safe sex, how to deal with inappropriate touching, sexuality and attraction, puberty and body changes, etc.  Who covers that?
