Maybe you didnt mean it this ^^ way but he bet FOR the team he was coaching. He did not bet against the team he was coaching.

He knew the rules and did it anyway. My wife and I got to see him at the Caesars Forum Shops in Vegas signing baseballs saying "I'm sorry I bet on baseball" about 15 years ago and again another time we went. I would have thought they would have lifted the ban by now tho.

I don't care, I'm not a baseball fan. I thought he bet against his team.

Funny enough, I dont like it either for the most part. Seeing Pete Rose was a novelty but I wasnt about to pay for his autograph.

Goddamn MLB commissioner is a total douchebag for not letting Pete into the Hall of Fame while he was alive.  It was never proven that Pete had placed bets on the Reds when he was the manager.

When they finally let Pete Rose in, his family should at least consider not going to the ceremony.

Fernando Valenzuela dies at 63

LOS ANGELES — Fernando Valenzuela, the Mexican-born phenom for the Los Angeles Dodgers who inspired "Fernandomania" while winning the NL Cy Young Award and Rookie of the Year in 1981, has died. He was 63.

The team said he died Tuesday night at a Los Angeles hospital but did not provide the cause or other details.

His death comes as the Dodgers prepare to open the World Series on Friday night at home against the New York Yankees.

Valenzuela had left his color commentator job on the Dodgers' Spanish-language television broadcast in September without explanation. He was reported to have been hospitalized earlier this month. His job kept him as a regular at Dodger Stadium, where he held court in the press box dining room before games and remained popular with fans who sought him out for photos and autographs.
