I'm not a psychiatrist or sociologist or anything like that but I am observant and I've come to the conclusion that people who avoid forums because they disagree politically with one or more of that forum's members aren't interested in engaging other people on a personal level. They only want to have superficial contact; the thinnest veneer of social interaction that relies heavily on virtue signalling and narrative reinforcement.

They're online to be validated, not educated or enriched in an intellectual sense. Anyone who doesn't validate them is invisible. Anyone who does the opposite of validating them is a bitter enemy.

They are fundamentally incurious, hopelessly myopic, and determinedly ignorant.

All of which basically means I find them boring as fuck.
