Quote from: "Bricktop"I think The Shining, The Stand, Misery and Salem's Lot were his best work.

Particularly The Stand. For some reason IT didn't work for me...

Its been almost 30 years since I read IT. The newer movie wasnt bad, but not like the book. I picked up the original movie on Black Friday for $2, never seen that one.

The Stand was damn good, and I read it right after IT I think.

Did you ever read the Dark Tower series? So good.

I need to find a book..

Most of the books I read are Christian..

Secular suggestions are welcome.

What type of books do you like?

Try something highbrow..."Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky. Or "One Day In the Life of Ivan Denisovich", By Solzhenitsyn. Amazing insights into the human mind...

"1984" is essential reading, especially in today's world.

"The Lord of The Rings", whilst lengthy, is hard to put down.

Inspirational books have usually been my first choice..

I've read some classics like Grapes of Wrath, The Catcher in the Rye and Withering Heights..

Perhaps 1984 should be my next novel.

It's an important piece of literature.

I can agree with ya on Lord of the Rings

As a LofR geek, and knowing someone was about to start it, I would suggest The Hobbit to read, first in the series, then LotRs. I would say start with the Silmarilion, but its hard to digest on a first read to a degree, if you are trying to keep up with all characters. Still some good tales in it though, and it is literally the beginning, and will also tie everything together in LotRs.

1984 is on my must read list. Dont know why I still havent read it. Maybe I should ask for it for Christmas lol. I also wanna ask for some more Tolkien books.

You haven't read it?

I thought you had.

The sad part is that when you read it, you will relate so much of what happens in the book to where we are today. Especially "Thoughtcrimes".
