TransLink has recently approved the second phase of their ten year, multi billion dollar expansion plan.

More drivers, more buses, a new bus yard in the city, a new maintenance yard for SkyTrain.

How much does a monthly Vancouver transit pass cost? It's $146.25 for a TTC monthly pass.

On weekdays, those who ride SkyTrain or SeaBus deal with zones.

Bus only passengers can get by on a one zone pass/fare.

Seems confusing. The TTC doesn't have water transit either.

If riding around in the city only= one zone is fine, $95.

If crossing into Burnaby, North Vancouver or Richmond = two zone fare. $128.

Greater Vancouver Transit isn't integrated. Even before all the cities that made up Metro Toronto merged to form the mega city, some things like transit and policing were unified.

Metro Vancouver's transit system covers 23 cities and municipalities. The system is divided up into three zones.

Zones are only in effect: Weekdays, until 6:30pm; and only while riding SkyTrain or SeaBus.

Currently no zones for buses.

In the process of reviewing our current fare structure, and most likely will replace the zones, with a distance traveled fare structure.

We have like 3500 drivers, driving 1500 buses on around 220 bus routes, plus three SkyTrain lines, the SeaBus and west coast Express.

If I take the C-train or a bus, it's one fare anywhere in Calgary.

Metro Vancouver needs hundreds of trainees each year! http://www.translink.ca/careers/">http://www.translink.ca/careers/ and then click onto Coast Mountain Bus Company.

HandyDART is also hiring too, class #4 license required.

BC Transit- Victoria is also hiring: https://bctransit.com/Victoria/careers/">https://bctransit.com/Victoria/careers/

I have driven 35' party busses Superchecker.  Does that qualify?

Yeah it was a Big Black Monster with what was essentially a mobile discotheque in the back.

Brand new as well. Probably cost the owner $150 000 when he bought it.

My sense of relief passed when after the trip I hadn't 'christened' the vehicle with the driver's 'kiss', aka gash/scrape.

However last I saw of the vehicle, it had more than a few gashes since I drove it.

Glad I wasn't the one who did it.

Driving large vehicles like busses or stretch limousines is very difficult & mistakes can be fatal

You have to be a very good driver to manoeuvre those things and remain accident-free.

Not everyone should try to become a bus driver for the public's safety & common good.

Buses are easier, as they usually always have designated routes and pull-outs.

Why not apply?  Driving skills are good to have, but they also want someone that has customer service skills also, and won't throw the next drunken fucking Indian off the bus with a punch to the face on the Hastings route!

That's the starting/training wage, plus full benefits.

And, the job is in New Westminster too.

Sadly, this is a good wage for Vancouver.  And the exact reason why Whites are getting the fuck outta here.  I've heard that 50% of Vancouverites do NOT plan on living here until they die, me being one of them.  That is an extremely large number of people wanting to get the fuck out.

I have noticed that as the population of new immigrants grows in a city, wages stay suppressed.  Vancouver is an example of this phenomenon also.
