Quote from: "Fashionista"It seems the Czech Republic has very liberal gun ownership laws.

A gun in the Czech Republic is available to anybody subject to acquiring a shall issue firearms license first. Gun licenses may be obtained in a way very similar to a driving license – by passing a gun proficiency exam, medical examination and having a clean criminal record. Unlike in most other European countries, the Czech gun legislation also permits a citizen to carry a concealed weapon for self-defense –

And the czech republic has the same murder rate, 1 per 100,000, that Australia has.

Thus proving once again--when it comes to the differing murder rates between countries, gun availability is clearly not the most important factor.

And the US?

4.88.

Proving, by your logic, that gun availability increases homicide rate.

Ny logic is not just point to two points on a graph, that's the cherry picking fallacy.  My logic is look at several countries.   and when you do, you see that there are  countries where guns are virtually banned that have higher murder rates than the US, and countries where guns are easy to obtain that have very low murder rates as low or lower than Australia.

in general, gun obtainability is not a reliable predictor of different murder rates between countries.

As i explained before. one of the major differences between the US and many European countries  (as well as Australia and Canada) is demographics--we have 13% blacks and 17% hispanics.  and depending on the year picked blacks are 5 to 10 times more likely to kill than whites, and Hispanics are 2 to 3 times more likely.

BTW of all our mass shootings in the last 20 years where over ten were murdered, one third of them have been done by muslims, who are 1% of our population.

Have you considered buying a reverse osmosis filtration system? Some aren't that expensive.

I honestly have lol. The one I was looking at at the time was around $300.

Hubby has worked in the chemicals industry and is anal about not having chlorine or fluoride in our drinking water, so we have a 3 stage filtration unit he pieced together. Ceramic, then RO, then UV. It's overkill but it's nice water after it goes through the mineralizer.

You can really taste and feel the difference if you have tap water somewhere else.

Oh I believe it. Good for y'all. I take measures, but dont like absorbing the chlorine when I shower.

Best water I get is when I head for the mountains

So, what you're saying is that its not guns. Its race.

Because, of course, they are STILL Americans. Or don't you count them in your "statistics"?

Quote from: "Bricktop"Why? What's wrong with fluoride?

Fluoride is the 2nd most toxic compound first being mercury but since countries industrial sector produces such toxic waste it has to be subtly discarded in a manner to not bring alarm hence fluorides notoriety of helping fix teeth  :laugh3: .. but yet legally fight tests to prove otherwise.. :laugh3:  ... no comparison studies .. just gag orders

Bricktop

Fluoride has been good for my teeth.

I'll post a pic.

Take me a few minutes to find them though...

Certain ethnicities in the US, Canada and Australia have higher murder rates than others. That is a fact.

So if a cop did that you would say cops shouldn't have guns?

The idea of Arming teachers is to have teachers who have taken gun safety clases volunteer, if they want to, to help keep students safe.  It was never "here teacher,  take this gun, even though you've never shot one before"

the best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

Bricktop

That is the most irrational and baseless cliche I've heard in ages.

Frood

Yeah, unnarmed people should call the cops because they're there to serve and protect and would never let anybody die because all life is precious.
