Regardless if which party governs, are its 'glory days' behind it?

Perhaps Canada's future leaders are now out West, ie B C Alberta?

ummm .. . what glory days was that? .. and whenever did it "lead" anything?

It's just a province with a lot of people  .. many of whom suck off the govt teat

I hope this is not the first of a bunch of question threads.

Ontario's industrial base has been in decline for decades. It accelerated under the Liberals green energy bullshit. Western Canada has been the economic engine of Canada since the early part of this century. Now with a federal government and provincial governments all trying to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, there's no place in Canada that can spur growth.

Ford must put a freeze on hiring and on salaries immediately to send a message that the Ontario public service is no longer a growth industry.

Old Joe is a bullshitter. But, he was right about one thing. You are the most conservative person on the interwebz. Renee is giving you a run for your money though.

Regardless how much Ford cuts, he's gotta do more than that.

Essentially, Ontario has got to reinvent itself.

Admittedly Wynne failed but unless Ontario changes course, its decline will be gradual but steep.

And theyre way too dependent upon the US for their exports. Isnt it something like 90%?

BC, US is less than50% of their export market  and declining.

Perhaps a glimmer of hope may be the CETA trade pact which former PM Stephen Harper was largely responsible for? While many have assailed him, i give him full credit for trying to diversify Canada's and therefore Ontario's trading base.

Actually the only thing that as kept Ontario afloat during the Liberal regime's reign of economic terror has been a housing bubble. Both the federal and provincial Liberal regimes have deliberately kneecapped the Ontario economy with higher taxes, and job killing regulations. Between Trudeau and Wynn we simply could not compete with neighbouring jurisdictions. Ford will work on changing that. Some Ontario manufacturers used to have secondary income streams making parts for the Western Canadian oil and gas sector, but Trudeau, Rachel Notley and John Horgan they are killing that.

Ontario will spend $12.3 billion this year servicing the massive debt the Liberal regime incurred. More than we spend on social services and higher education combined. What an unnecessary waste of money and a burden on the people.
