Thankfully it was an approved kitchen knife and not a menacing pocket knife.



Bricktop can sigh relief that 14 unarmed bus riders weren't permitted to have the means to not be stabbed by a crazy with a readily available kitchen implement everybody has at least 2 or 3 of and are sold virtually everywhere spoons, bowls, and cups are sold.



I for one am glad that the 14 victims were not carrying anything that could be used as a weapon for defence because 14 armed people is way worse than just one armed person with a screw loose, and 14 unarmed people is better than 1!

Canada has fairly relaxed knife laws, generally speaking, compared to some other Western nations .  You can open carry, and conceal carry virtually any knife, as long as it's not a 'switchblade' type knife (meaning a closed knife which can be opened with the push of a button, or more precisely a closed knife which can be opened with one hand...  very grey area here), which is prohibited to own.  There are no blade length restrictions, meaning Samurai's swords are OK also.



In this Province, the BC Liquor Control Act states that you can't pack a blade into a drinking establishment (unless you're working in there).  Also, places like the Courts of Law may search and hold your blade until you leave.



THAT being said, if you walk down Main Street Vancouver with an unsheathed Samurai Sword, you WILL attract attention from the Police, so just be smart if you're a sword collector and don't flash the thing around downtown.



We are not like OZ or the UK.  Knife ownership and the ability to carry them are generally respected here.  They are viewed here more as a tool, than as strictly a 'weapon,' and are generally treated as such.  Just don't be dumb (i.e. flashing around your Samurai in public), and there shouldn't be a problem.

They're not saying at this point. Other than the fact that three people were 'medium serious(ly)' cut. He tried to light his backpack on fire and when the bus driver saw it, he abruptly stopped and opened the doors. The guy was overpowered at that point by what I assume were fellow bus riders. They have said it was about a 5 inch kitchen knife, so 5 inches from hilt to end. Not a huge knife.



I'm thinking the assailant happened to be Iranian and he was just mentally off.

I agree completely.  Middle east Immigration is pure charity, for the most part there is no real benefit to it for the countries doing it, only liabilities: higher welfare costs, increased crime, no go zones, and mass murder (or mass wounded in this case)  no thanks, I'll pass.

Problem is, it isn't just Germany (who just yesterday got  "enriched" again by another islamic ), it's most of the West especially including Canada.



For all of Eastern Europe and Canada it's virtually all islamic .. brilliant !!



While US alone has kept islamic at about 1% of population, they have lots of problems from even that low a number ...  and then there is their southern border problem
