A policy group predicted that the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for next year's Social Security payments may be far lower than the past several years—due to inflation.

When inflation goes up, the Social Security Administration uses it to determine the COLA for the forthcoming year. Some economists have predicted the main inflation metric, the consumer price index for urban wage earners, may go down this year due to the recent interest rate hikes issued by the Federal Reserve.

According to the policy group, the Senior Citizens League, based on the 2.9 percent January consumer price index for urban wage earners, the group is "adjusting the long-term forecast COLA to 1.75 percent in 2025." The overall consumer price index rose 3.1 percent last month, according to federal data.

The Supreme Court will hear the closely watched case of a Jan. 6 defendant on April 16, the court announced on Feb. 16.

The case could lead to the dropping of charges against many defendants charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, protest of the impending congressional certification of the 2020 presidential election results at the U.S. Capitol complex in Washington.

Former police officer Joseph W. Fischer of Jonestown, Pennsylvania, is the main defendant in the case known as Fischer v. United States. The oral argument was scheduled in a notice posted by the court on its website.

BlackRock has unveiled what it calls "a new proxy voting opportunity in iShares Core S&P 500 ETF (IVV)." The multinational investment giant notes that this particular product is its largest and among the most widely held exchange-traded fund.

While giving individual investors a say in the votes related to their holdings is a good thing, this new scheme on closer inspection appears to be a way for BlackRock to push climate and social-related policies while making it seem like clients voted for them. Very sneaky.

The Associated Press exposed the unprecedented nature of the case and how New York's treatment of Trump is incongruent with past cases.

QuoteThey went back over 70 years and looked at all the cases that have been tried under this rule — [New York Civil Practice Law] 6312, which is used here — which doesn't have to show harm done. That's not the burden. You don't have to show that anybody was hurt by your practices. There's nobody you defrauded specifically.

They went back and they looked at cases over 70 years — I believe it's about 150 cases — and found there was no case where there was a ban on doing business where there wasn't harm shown. So even though the threshold is "harm shown," in the past, it has only been used to ban someone doing business when it's been shown that somebody was hurt — say you're selling cosmetics that are poisoning you. There's somebody that was hurt there; the cosmetics company gets banned.

Tucker Carlson said that an advisor to former U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson told him he would need to pay $1 million when the host asked for an interview.

"This is, by the way, the guy who single-handedly, at the request of the U.S. government, stopped the peace deal in Ukraine a year and a half ago, and is, I think, for that reason, responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands people. He won't explain any of that to me in an interview until I pay him a million dollars," Carlson said.

Boris Johnson is a slime bucket.
