I was thinkin' there might be this remote possibility that he would delay his resignation in order for the Democrats to assess replacements that could counter Trump's ticket.

I still think his smartest pick would have been Tulsi Gabbard but I'm just a rando with an internet connection... I'm not an advisor or even a strategist.

Sure, she checks some identity boxes but I think that was only a bonus. Her real value would be in sewing up his "independent" support and maybe even attracting some more disaffected democrats.

Actually if it was Canada, and any major party ran a candidate that old and decrepit, he'd get booed and booted of the stage, replaced in no time flat

Unlike the States, the leader of a party actually has to go in front of parliament and answer questions

As President Biden just had to make one televised performance and one debate in an entire term

But in a parliamentary system, the Prime Minister has to stand up every day and answer questins
