Good one. I read that WMM hails from Saskatoon. Good time to plug this song by a well known Canadian band:

Tom Cochrane's early band.

Old JEB Stuart posted some early Tom Cochrane with Red Rider. This was their best tune in my opinion.

I'm just throwin' this out there, although I do have an album by them. I've never been able to quite get my head wrapped around any of their songs.  But, they were essentially the predecessor to Bachman Turner Overdrive, a truly great band. This is the only song by Brave Belt to make the Canadian charts; nothing they produced made the US charts.

Wait a minute. I thought the Guess Who were the predecessor to BTO?

As I understand it, in 1973, BTO was formed by Fred Turner and Randy, Robbie and Tim, the Bachman bros.  Of them, only Randy was in The Guess Who. As for Brave Belt, all four of the BTO members were in it at one time or another, plus Chad Allan, who was the lead singer for The Guess Who prior to Burton Cummings.  Chad was never in BTO.

As a side note, I was very disappointed to discover that Tim Bachman, now deceased, had some underage sex charges:  https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Bachman

I only knew Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings from the Guess Who.

Ya, I knew one of the Bachman boys was a fiddler. Randy had nothing to do with him after he found out. Tim became a real estate agent in Vanacouver.

This is Great Big Sea from Newfoundland. They combine traditional Newfie music which is similar to Irish music with rock and pop.

Never heard of 'em, so thanks for sharin', amigo. That's an example of music I'd rarely, if ever, listen to while driving down the road. They do, however, strike me as a band that'd be really good to hear live.

J E B Stuart, Great Big Sea has some more commercial sounding stuff too. They are mainstays on Canadian radio stations.

This is one of their biggest hits.
