Trusting the Liberals on carbon taxes is like Charlie Brown trusting Lucy is going to hold the football for him.

Liberal leader and prime-minister designate Mark Carney, having been the world's leading corporate lobbyist for global carbon taxes for years, now says he's scrapping outgoing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's "consumer carbon tax."

But what he's doing is folding it into Trudeau's industrial carbon tax and adding a second carbon tax — a tariff that Canadians will pay on many imported goods — misleadingly described as a "border adjustment mechanism."

But that's just one example of how the Liberals have misled Canadians not only about carbon taxes but about what they have accomplished.

Mark Czarney is the most compromised prime minister in Canadian history.

The independent Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) just dropped a bombshell.

The Liberal-NDP oil and gas emissions cap will kill 54,400 jobs by 2032. It'll slash production by 5%—245,000 barrels a day—and drain $20 billion from Canada's economy. Global emissions? They'll rise.

The PBO's proof rips years of Liberal-NDP lies wide open.

Mark Czarney supports this attack on Canadian jobs and affordable energy.

He is hiding a lot. He has investments outside Canada that have an interest in key economic sectors within Canada failing.

Sadly, there are people who will vote for Carney because of their feelings and not actual reality and logic.

He's worse than Dildeau.

He has been Trusdeau's economic advisor for five years. Elect Carney and get another Trudeau term.

Prime Minister Carney eliminated the consumer portion of the carbon tax but he kept it on businesses which means prices will not come down.

Carney has promised a new carbon pricing system to replace the consumer carbon tax with what he says will be a magical new carbon tax system requiring "big polluters" to pay the costs of carbon pricing, but not pass them on to the public.

That's an absurd claim, but to assess it requires far more specifics than Carney has offered to date.

So does Carney's planned introduction of a second carbon tax, a tariff to be paid by Canadians purchasing imported goods from foreign countries that the federal government determines are lax in fighting climate change.

All these questions need to be answered during the coming election campaign. Don't hold your breath that they will.

Fair enough avatar_Brent Brent.

But even if the Conservatives manage to make it an issue will it be enough to make a dent in Carney's recent surge in popularity?

Seems national pride & who'll protect Canada in this tariff war is the key issue. But we'll see what happens.

Nothing is guaranteed for Poilievre or Carney atm. Ut's still a toss up. Could be a close election and another minority government no matter who wins & forms the next government.

Unlike the US, it will work in Canada. The Canadian dollar will plummet under Carney. This could be the last election with Canada's current borders.

Alberta and Saskatchewan might vote to become states if the Liberals keep usurping provincial jurisdiction(they will) and Washington makes an attractive offer to them.

If all of our investments in Canada become US dollarized, I will go to the Canadian embassy and vote yes to join the US and I will do it enthusiastically.

Brent

The Liberals have been telling us for years thatr if you oppose their carbon tax you hate the planet. Now they are bragging about cancelling it. Which they haven't actually done.

Mark Carney will win the next election. With a reasonable possibility of a majority government too. He has a very sneaky plan to do it.  And he will take his climate agenda further than Justin Trudeau did.

I will explain how he will do that in a new thread.
