This is kinda interesting.  Wadsworth Mansion was a Rhode Island band that took their name from an actual mansion not in RI, but in Connecticut. Go figure. In 1970, they released this song and it became a top five hit. So, they had to quickly put together an album to go with the single.

Well, this catchy pop number turned out to be their only hit and the band eventually disbanded:

Amen.

Heh.  That's a heaping helping' of the old Bo Diddley beat. According to Wikipedia, Ace claimed his version of the song was inspired by his experiences with prostitutes in Times Square in the 1970s.

Here's the original by Hello, a Limey glam band:

It's no secret that Lynyrd Skynyrd is my favorite band. Period. And Freebird is essentially their magnum opus. Written by guitarist Allen Collins and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, it first appeared on their debut album and is truly a Southern Rock masterpiece:

Interesting you should post that because I intend to have Skynyrd played at my funeral, too. Simple Man is a truly great song, but I never tire of Sweet Home Alabama. I hope Neil Young will remember he can go fuck himself:
