My Bloody Valentine was formed 1983 in Dublin, Ireland. They are considered to be pioneers of the shoegaze movement. I confess to not having listened to much shoegaze. Or, it's just as likely I've listened to more than I thought but didn't know what it was. I am certain, however, that I don't worry about genre labels. As I've said before, it's all about the sound and if it sounds good, that's good enough for me. With that in mind, I like how this sounds:

Amen.

I was not a fan of Natalie Merchant. Not a single song of hers i like....but this one.

It makes me think of my time dancing in New Orleans.

White Zombie was formed in 1985. Ten years later, they released "More Human than Human" as a single. It is one of those songs you run across from time to time that grows on ya.  It should never be listened to without plenty of volume:

Weezer was formed in 1992. This song first caught my ear coming from a ceiling speaker in a store.  I was somewhat familiar with the band, but haven't listened to them a great deal. AI provides the following about the meaning of the song:

"Weezer's "Say It Ain't So" (1995) is a raw exploration of familial abandonment, addiction, and the fear of history repeating itself, written by Rivers Cuomo. It depicts the anxiety of a teenager seeing a beer in the fridge and fearing his stepfather is becoming an alcoholic, mirroring his biological father's departure years prior."

Rob Zombie is a better film maker than he is a singer.

Local H was formed 1990 in Zion, Illinois. They initially began as a 3-piece outfit, but shortly  became a 2-piece unit when they didn't replace one member who departed. I saw LH live recently. With a set-up like The Black Keys, I will say they get lotsa sound outta just two instruments. This is their signature song:

Amen.

Good question, Shen. Live, there is no bass. Just drums and guitar. My ear, however, tells me there is bass on the studio version.

From Oklahoma City, The Nixons were formed in 1990. As for the band name, Wikipedia provided this:

". . .According to [Zac] Maloy, the band's name has no political meaning: "'The Nixons' was short, sweet and I always tell people it had an 'x' in the middle so it looked cool on t-shirts and stickers. That's about it."

This song put them on the map in 1996. It sounds a lot like Pearl Jam to me:

The Nixons :s_laugh: If I wanted to give a band a real rebel name today I would call them the Trumps.

Haha!  Or put together an all-girl band named The Trumpettes.

My Chink ears tell me the same.
