15 million could die: Study

As coronavirus continues to spread around the world, a new report says that even in a best-case scenario, the outbreak could kill as many as 15 million people.

New modelling from the Australian National University examined seven scenarios of how the COVID-19 outbreak could affect 20 countries and four regions, including the OECD and Asia.

In the best-case scenario — or the one with the lowest severity — the researchers estimate more than 15 million people could die within the first year of the outbreak and a $2.4-trillion US loss to the global GDP.

In the worst-case scenario, the study says the death toll could surpass 68 million and the global GDP loss could be as high as $9 trillion.

In China alone, it estimates the number of deaths could hit 12 million, while its GDP in 2020 could suffer a $1.6-trillion loss.

DD, just so you know, Tim Horton's is Canada's biggest coffee and doughnut chain.

Timmies puts lid on reusable cups

Tim Hortons says it will temporarily stop accepting reusable cups brought in by customers amid concerns about the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The company has also put on hold plans it had to give away 1.8 million reusable cups for free as part of its

Roll Up the Rim contest this year.

The move follows similar decisions by Starbucks and Second Cup.

Tim Hortons says that though health officials have not recommended any changes to its procedures, it is making the change after listening to its restaurant owners and comments from its customers.

The company says it will delay the distribution of the reusable cups that were planned to be given away next week until later this year.

I don't think so. People want to think and believe that. By Summer there will be a cure or it's going to be the apocalypse. Imagine everybody in North America wearing face masks. Hide in our home. Nobody go out to socialize. Shops closing. Restaurants out of business.
