What is the biggest threat facing the world today?  Who or what should we be fearing the most?  Is it Putin? China? Islam? Nuclear warfare? Or something else....?

Something else will kill the human race. Everything mentioned in the article of news - politics, spying etc falls under technology progress. Humans will destroy the planet before I become 50 years old in thirty years. Humans will not survive their own technology. Nuclear war or technology progress will kill everyone.



The biggest problem humans will have in thirty years from today is overpopulation and food shortage if technology has not already killed everyone.

Most urgent problems the globe faces are in order:

1. The rise of Islamic extremism. This is the most dangerous threat humanity faces by a landslide.

2. Debt!! We in the West haven't learned much from the 2008 global recession. Both governments and citizens in the West are ramping up debt again.

3. Corruption and waste under the guise of saving the planet from "global warming". This ties in with the second one of course. It has made some corrupt third world leaders even richer while encouraging nepotism/corruption in the West. The poor old Western taxpayer is picking up the tab for all this gluttony. We're talking hundreds of billions of dollars a year. What a waste.

I don't agree that Islam is a huge threat.  We need to stop catering to it under freedom of religion bullshit then leave them in their own countries to run around in disorganized chaos.



Climate change will be a big issue especially if sea levels rise.  We should be planning to address that now.



Stuxnet (worm hack attacked Iran nuclear facility years ago) had hackers cracking programmable logic controllers (PLCs) which ruined a significant portion of their nuclear centrifuges.  That's scary shit folks.  Now we are dawning on the quantum computer age where we go back to fumbling in the dark and responding to hacks that will have serious backing behind them.  A quantum computer will be the next Gibson.
