Firstly, that is a UN ranking, and thus its reliability is dubious.



Secondly, publishing a ranking WITHOUT stating the criterion upon which those ranks were calculate further adds to the sniff of subjectivity. I note Switzerland is 20th. I once fell ill with salmonella poisoning there (a fact which on its own is rather disconcerting) and was hospitalised for three days. I discharged myself without knowing what I was suffering from. The closest they got was "peritonitis".



I returned to the UK, where I was accurately diagnosed and treated within a day.



There was nothing notable about Swiss health care. On the other hand, UK health care has always been first class. As has Australian.

I think Canada is actually much worse than that list depicts.  The US system is clearly better than Canada's, even though Canada ranks higher on that list...

I can state that I have a step-Uncle that was born and raised here, but he ended up meeting an American teacher (don't know how, and yes, she is extremely left-wing as could be expected, but he is not), and he's now a US citizen living in Iowa or somewhere around there, so has seen both systems up close and personal.



When he was in town a couple of years back, I asked him which system is better in his opinion...  He states the US system is better.

Gov. Ron DeSantis removed Broward Sheriff Scott Israel from office Friday, replacing him after 10 months of turmoil spawned by the slaughter of 17 staff and students in Parkland.



"I have no interest in dancing on Scott Israel's political grave," DeSantis said of the Democratic former sheriff, "but suffice it to say the massacre might never have happened had Broward had better leadership in the sheriff's department."



In his executive order, the governor cited Israel for incompetence and neglect of duty. DeSantis said Israel "egregiously failed in his duties" by not properly training deputies, and not maintaining "a culture of vigilance and thoroughness," among other weaknesses.



The suspension caps a nearly year-long series of revelations that exposed the failure of Broward sheriff's deputies to run in to save children at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. Some deputies said they couldn't remember when they'd last been trained to handle an active shooter, even though the agency had a confused, chaotic response to a mass shooting at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in 2017.

Israel, 62, a two-term Democratic sheriff of Broward County, was suspended by Gov. Ron DeSantis three days after the new Republican governor was sworn into office.



But Israel, clad in a suit and tie rather than his usual sheriff's uniform, said DeSantis' actions were motivated by politics, not facts.



His lawyer, Stuart Kaplan, said that not only would Israel fight the governor's order, but he would run for re-election when his term ends in 2020.



Kaplan said that they were still exploring avenues to challenge the suspension, which the governor issued at his own news conference in Fort Lauderdale about an hour before.  

Not an ounce of shame.
