Yes he is. That's why they stick to the lower 1/3 of Australia, it's cooler.

I didn't know this about swans.

caskur

The main river in Perth is called, The Swan River... the Europeans named it when it was discovered. They'd never seen Black Swans before.

Hey caskur, isn't Western Australia the wealthiest state? It attracts job seekers from the rest of Australia and New Zealand?

WA is a minerals and mining State.

When the demand is high, the mining industry gets rich. When demand and prices fall, they go broke, and the carpetbaggers look elsewhere.

The state is largely uninhabitable arid desert.

And when demand is high, so are the wages. I've heard about opportunities there when I was still in Israel.

Yep, we're richest state in world being plundered by the world... and yes, I have a chip on my shoulder about it.

Some of that is bullshit...

the South west corner where I live supplies Australia's grain and feed.. the south/west corner feeds the middle east.....

the South/West corner is bigger than the state of Texas...

Without WA, the world would have fucked up sooner.

Jeesh, we considered immigrating to Australia, Now that I know you wouldn't have greeted us with flowers and a kiss, I think we made the right decision to go to Vancouver.

I'm sure caskur has no problem with hard working immigrants coming to her state..

She seems reasonable enough.

No, he's right but I'll explain myself better after this post...

Eaton WA. There are only 34 swans in this post but there were at least 500 on this estuary this day...

True, I wouldn't have... We do indeed live in paradise but we're losing it drastically fast.

Our local newsagency fellow, (A Malaysian man owner) said to my husband yesterday, he's retiring back to Malaysia.... He said Australia is too hard to live in. (light bulb) Everyone thinks we're the lucky country... but the lucky country days are long gone. So I thought to myself... "there you go, a man would rather go back to humid hot over-crowded Malaysia than live in  paradise Perth."

The good years have gone... I'm even thinking of fleeing... They want to take our 2 mil population to 5.5 mil... we're greatly suffering 2 mil let alone more than doubling it... The elder abuse is out of control...

they want our land and homes.

OMG... that place is divine.. My ancestors settled there in 1832, 3 years after the Swan River Settlement, (1st ever settlement).

Anyway, one of my cousins moved there so we set off to visit her and a new baby she had.... It's on the coast, 2 hour drive south of me. I'd never been there before.

Caskur is somewhat parochial and rather generous in summarising her State's virtues.

Very little of what WA produces finds its way east into the rest of Australia.

That's not to say they don't produce quality stuff...but so does the rest of the country. WA is NOT in any way better or worse than the rest of OZ...but it is FAR more remote, and that hurts them. It's 3 hours flight from Perth to the next largest capital city, Adelaide.

WA has the fourth largest State economy...and most of that is mineral based. It is not the richest State...it's economic output is around a third of New South Wales.

Caskur is a little prejudiced, and not representative of the views of most Australians. WA isn't being plundered...it's selling what it can to whoever will buy it. Western Australian (sandgropers) always think they are hard done by, forgetting that its the rest of Australia that funds a LOT of their infrastructure to support one of the world's largest States. If WA had to manage roads, power, communications, ports and social services on it's own, it would be back in the 50's.

I understand your concerns. One of the reasons I emigrated from Israel is overcrowding.

Can you explain what you mean by elder abuse?
