I follow Israeli politics more than Canadian and American politics. Israel has a real and vibrant right wing. This is something that is lacking in North America. There is no political spectrum on this continent and it makes politics boring to observe. Trump would be Likud lite in Israel. Andrew Scheer would be Kulanu.

There is no socialism on this continent either. The NDP in Canada and the Liz Warrens in the US are antithetical to blue collar prosperity.

Do you want this in Politics Gaon or is this just a general discussion about the political spectrum here?

It's a comparison based on what I have observed since we landed in Canada. If you want to move it, go ahead.

I agree there is no right in the US.  The republican party is supposed to represent the right.  But most of them are so frightened of the media and the left, especially when the left plays the race card, they are completely paralyzed.  They don't push a right agenda at all.  It seems to me they mostly try to lay low and avoid any conflict, hoping if they don't make any waves they will get re-elected.

I can't stand the democrats but at least they try to push their political agenda, most republicans are just cowards trying to hold onto their jobs.

I have to laugh when Joe uses the right wing label for North Americans. Go to Israel or Hungary or Poland. They have a real right wing. America and Canada do not. But, Joe could be fishing for a reaction.

Occasionally Joe posts something worth reading but 90% or more of what he posts is silly trolling nonsense.

I am curios, if you don't mind, what are some of the policy differences you see between Israel's right vs Canada/America's Pseudo right?

There is no right in Australia.

We have two lefts, and you cannot run with two left feet.

The most obvious distinction is in their responses to illegal immigration. The right in Israel universally supports Israel's border barriers. Israel set time tables for illegals in the country to leave on their own or be removed. The Israeli right doesn't care about political correctness. The Israeli right openly talks about issues related to immigration and the importance of making sure immigrants assimilate. While Trump has been removing red tape the right in Canada has not. Netanyahu hates regulatory burdens that restrict innovation.

There are others, but I have to go to bed. We'll pick this up tomorrow night.

I figured much of it is immigration.  probably the main reason Trump got elected was people on the right were sick of the republicans being soft on immigration and didn't trust them.  Trump came along and said he would do something about Muslim immigration and illegals that's why he beat all the other republicans for the nomination. Still even Trump hasn't done everything he could/should.

I read a few years ago the Netanyahu government implemented measures like higher minimum wages on foreign workers(usually caregivers from the Philippines) and fewer visas issued. The idea was to get lazy Arabs off their asses and working at jobs guest workers do now. We should do that with Indians.

Gaon

There are a lot of people collecting social benefits in Israel. Arabs and the haredim breed like horny rabbits. Both have low labor participation rates. Netanyahu has been bringing in gradual reforms to change that. But, he needs the haredim or his coalition breaks up.

I was going to say, until I read this thread, everything I read about Israel is that it spent a lot of money on social welfare programs. Though I have heard the Netanyahu has made reform inroads.

Gaon

Israel was like America and Canada are now from the founding of the new state in 1948 until the mid 1990's. It was a leftist, socialist state. The Likud party was not right wing at all. Benjamin Netanyahu fundamentally changed the party and changed Israel for the better.
