BTW

A whole lot of people with Arab names are finding the historic Notre Dame ablaze very funny.

Twitter user Damien Rieu posted a video showing the amount of people responding to a video of the Paris church with a "laughing" face emoji.

Something tells me their reaction would be different if it were The Grande Mosquée de Paris.

No doubt, and you can bet they would be accusing people of having done it, and not with any sense of restraint, so would the media.

One of the main reasons I wonder if this was deliberate is because its holy week.  Coincidence?  Dunno[/quote]

Hm, could very well be an act of war on Christianity but I will not assume because there has been no evidence or proof.

Maybe we should stick our tongues further up in muslim ass so that they wouldnt laugh at this...

Thats the leftie way..

I´m sure some outstanding muslim lover suggests that.

Forget muslims for a moment. Take this perspective from a Jew:

"If we wish to uphold the beauty and profundity of the Notre Dame cathedral, that means re-familiarizing ourselves with the philosophy and religious principles that built it."

Aha! That's pretty controversial. That is by Ben Shapiro on Twitter.

Ben is a realist.

Some years ago, before muslims began their unholy war, you could climb the steps of the south tower and walk around the roof, amongst the "grotesques" (often erroneously called "gargoyles"). You actually accessed the roof through the bell mechanism and the small apartment the bellringer occupied (think Quasimodo). It was one of my most memorable experiences.

The damage appears confined to the rear of the church, so hopefully the front towers and facade will survive. However, they are reporting that many of the beautiful and dazzling stained glass windows were destroyed.

Sad.

That's a relief it can be rebuilt. Notre Dame is an iconic symbol of the French identity.

Australia has put its hand up to help rebuild.

It'll be fixed in no time what-so-ever.

I hope it wasn't an insurance job..

It appears that the fire was confined to the area above the chancel, communion table, altar and pews. Sadly, that is still a major disaster, but the frontage appears to have been largely untouched.

So, we will need a working party to assess the damage, and a Commission formed to oversee the working party. Then we'll need strategy plans drawn up with input from the unions. Of course, we'll need to engage a horde of consultants and perhaps some celebrities to head the PR push. The PM will also appoint an advisor to keep him briefed on progress.

This should take about three years.

Finally, architects will be engaged to draw up plans for rebuilding. This will take around 2 years.

Once the plans are complete, they will be assessed by the working party who will make recommendations to the relevant Minister.

The Minister will submit his recommendation to cabinet, who will consider the 40 billion costing in the next budget.

Once the budget is passed, funding will be phased in over 8 years.

In the meantime, tenders will be called for. This process will take 2 years, but thats OK because funds won't be available for 4.

Cabinet will approve the appointment of the successful tender submission.

The Company will then engage suitably skilled and qualified staff, from project managers to stone masons, painters, stained glass constructors and specialist roofers.

This will take around a year.

The complete restoration and refurbishment will be complete at the same time man walks on Mars.

I think we should leave it to the French.

lol... Aus will just make a donation. They can add it to the insurance money + the faithful Christians globally who no doubt will chip in...

I studied architecture in Art History... I love all those gothic buildings.

They are amazing...and Notre Dame, while being perhaps the more recognised, is not necessarily the most awe inspiring. It is relatively small compared to some of the grander cathedrals of Europe.

But it is one of the most beautiful, that's for sure.

In other words, a lot less red tape than in Canada.
