There is much about Flametown's culture you don't know.



Whilst much of it's modern conduct is more reprehensible than amusing, as we witness here in these threads, there is one overriding consideration to bear in mind before sympathising with it's victims.



People who enlist in flame forums and join the environment do so of their own accord. Nobody is forced to enrol. Those that do know exactly what they are getting into, but walk right in anyway.



When the full force of flaming hits them, there is no point in complaining after the event. Whether out of some sadistic urge or morbid curiosity, you become part of their world. Being a flamer is a bit like being a porn star; you are forever judged by that activity and you can never erase your past.



If you do not wish to suffer the menace, intrusion and humiliation that is inherent in modern flaming, do NOT engage or enrol in any of its mediums. If you do, then as abhorrent as the consequences may be, you are ultimately responsible for being in that situation.



As any observer of the posts in this sub will learn, there is no escape once you're in. Even if you withdraw completely, your past is never more than a click away. It's been well over ten years since I last engaged in a flame forum, and as you can see I've never been from their thoughts.



It's like the Mafia. Once you're in, you can never really leave.

Ok, what they did to her was uber vile obsessive PI rapey.  They mined for photos online without her knowledge... this is a woman who doesn't like photos of herself and therefor probably doesn't know how to take a decent one.  I've talked to her on the phone and she sounds super cute.  She is intelligent and has depth.  She is cool peeps.  She has issues with being treated fairly and I can respect that.

And that's why a lot of older flamers liked to lock down their PI and pics. they were a constant source of weaklings who couldn't flame worth of shit, and had to resort to it.

I came from the old Asian-American forums where posting pictures and PI was uncommon..



It came as a surprise to me that some people did that.

Thus here we are again with the same BS that killed flaming. the old grudges and PI-hunting with god-knows-what intent behind it, and just made the game completely toxic to any newcomer.
