The Trump Administration's response to the coronavirus has historical parallels & is comparable to France's response & preparation for War against Nazi Germany:

The United States is one of the most prepared countries for the coronavirus. Canada, on the other hand still allows flights to and from COVID-19 hotspots. Trudeau's response to the coronavirus is shameful.

President Trump wanted to send the CDC into China, but President Xi would not allow it. It could have been contained if China accepted Trump's offer.

Trump's agenda of America First: build things at home, control over borders is the best defense against this foreign virus. The USA is dependent on the ingredients for antibiotics from China. Joe Biden wants to make the US more susceptible to foreign viruses.

About ninety six per cent of antibiotics in Canada and the US come from China. Two years ago there was an explosion at a plant in Central China that produces more antibiotics than any other that created a temporary, but very real shortage. Recently, Beijing threatened to cut off supplies of antibiotics to Canada and the US. THEY THREATENED TO KILL US.

If there has ever been a case to support Trump's America First platform, this is it.

well, given the delvastating effects of the coronsvirus, I think at least some manufacturing processes/products will come back, seoulbro. And this won't even require a Trump America first platform.

As has been indicated by business publications recently, companies have become too vulnerable & their supply chains are at risk when too much is located or comes from China.

Bullshit, they they didn't learn from SARS or the Avian flu. In fact, they doubled down on it and the percentage of antibiotics is higher today. Even after production and supply of antibiotics was affected two years ago, nothing has changed except Canada and the USA are even more dependent on antibiotics from China.

But this time it is different, Herman.

SARS was bad, but it seemed like a passing fad by comparison.

Even the doctors in China warned us that coronavirus would be bad before it reached epidemic proportions around the world.

And what if pro-Trump supporters are right - that this is a made in China 'manufactured virus' that came from some Germ factory there?

All the better reason to retrench from China a bit & come back home.

You've raised a good point. But if the corporations/governments haven't learned from this episode, then  they are pretty dense.

I suspect this won't be the last disease outbreak originating fron China.

And if they want it to be business as usual in the future, It may take a worldwide effort to clean up China to bring its health standards up to the rest of the 1st world.

I don't know what Canada and the USA are thinking sometimes..

Both countries are already facing antibiotic and other drug shortages from the coronavirus and now China is threatening to block exports..

Not even Taiwan is that dependent on mainland China for critical medical supplies..

Even after a vaccine for the coronavirus is widely available there will be a next time..

China didn't ban wet markets after SARS and they won't this time, which means there will be a next time.

Trump announced a travel ban from hotspots three weeks after a problem was detected in Wuhan. Canada still hasn't done that. Justine wants us sick or dead..

Given what you just wrote, I don't think I ever wanna go ta China, Fashionista.

Not at least 'til they close those markets down & clean 'em up

I was thinkin' of travellin to Japan, but at leadt for the forseeable future, it's a somewhat risky proposition too.

Korea sure got hit hard & they weren't even the source if it.

As much as I am a free trader, total dependence on another country, that is also an adversary for things like surgical masks and medicine is insane. The tax code must change in North America to bring back critical supply chains.
