TheProwler is a small town Canadian hick who actually thinks a Camaro is a 'high end vehicle.' But of course where you live, $200,000 cars are commonplace. And like Vancouver, the rich drive Audis, Porsches, Mercedes or Teslas. Anyways, that's what I see in their garages. Either that or they drive pristine vintage cars and show them off.

Doesn't California have at least 25% of all the Lambos in the USA?
Esp SoCal.

Shouldn't you be giving T a full body massage with exotic essential oils from around the globe, Joe?

Your comic books, coins, stamps, and Happy Meals will be lucky to pay the basic bills beyond your first year of retirement in your 80's...  :dontknow:

Joe literally was on these boards complaining about having to help his mother clean her home a few weeks before she croaked.

Now he got the inheritance and blew it all on comic books and counterfeit coins and he cannot afford to buy a $400K condo in the slums of Vancouver.

The guy is a bit of a loser.

I have no intention of buying a bottom of the barrel $400K condo in Vancouver. That's precisely the trap the developers and the ruling elites want us all to buy into, Prowler. 99 and 50 year leases with tenuous ownership clauses. Looked into it, I can buy land with permanent title for 1/2 that price or less outside the city. Same climate, same environment but even better since they still have open space as opposed to a crowded and congested city. No crime either.

Another thing the City/Province did was to lower the threshold to unload and bulldoze perfectly viable housing developments. At one time the approval 100% of strata owners to sell and vacate a development if someone wanted to go in and bulldoze it, build something else in it. Now it's 80%. The rules were 'relaxed' for the benefit of developers at the expense of the homeowner. So of course, now these poor seniors who bought into them in the 1970s thinking they had something permanent in their elderly years are Shit Out of Luck now, because their fellow strata owners decided to sell the place even they voted to stay. And when they try to go back and buy in, now they need a million or so to get back what they had. Of course, they're only offered $200,000 or so for the homes they once thought permanent. In all probability they'll just keep lowering the requirements till its 60% and 50%?

The politicians here are very greedy, power hungry and have sold the most vulnerable out to the highest bidder.

All those shitbox condos are, is the gift that keeps on giving to the developers and the politicians. I recently met someone who must have paid upwards of $1 million for hers and now I heard she heard she lost her job.

BTW, I can always sell my collectibles and gold and get 100% or more for it.

But your camaros won't sell for more than 20 cents to the dollar.
Far fewer people will want your gas guzzling monsters esp when fuel reaches $20 a gallon, Prowler. Personally, if I were going that route, I'd buy a vintage show car such as 1957 Corvette to rent out to the movie studios and advertisers for photo shoots.

You think I'm 'money obsessed' to have that mindset, but that's exactly how the largest limousine company in my city thinks. Star Limousine - go look them up. I've been there. They have 100 cars on their lot. When they spend $200,000 on a brand new Mercedes, they wanna see revenue out of it. So if they can't pull in as much as they paid for it, it's a money losing proposition for them and they get rid of them if they can't turn a profit. If those things don't make money, the limo companies get edgy and begin to lay off staff and unload expensive unnecessary cars in their lot.

In my books, a person should make money from high priced assets. At least as much as they paid for them or be able to sell/unload easily in the future. Otherwise, they just become an expensive paperweight.

I find idiots buy expensive cars which go down in value.  You can't put earn stupid behavior which is why there are so many people making $300,000 per year but living pay check to pay check.  Smart people live below their means so they can save and I very the difference.  BTW 400,000 isn't a small hick town.

The town I went to college in, Santa Barbara, had below 300,000 but they kept it intentionally small to keep it exclusive.  As in multimillionaires and billionaires only.

Joe, have you or are you actually buying any land outside the city to build a house on?

Of course not. He is a serial bullshitter. He has been trolling like this for at least a decade.

Consider this....

A few years ago, I was in the market for a sports car.

I like new cars, not used cars because I value being the first driver of the car, and I value the brand new car experience from breaking in the engine to the pristine interior.

I have always liked Corvettes, and the new Corvette looked good and was getting stellar reviews.

So I wanted a new Corvette.  So I got on several waiting lists and when my name came up, I bought the car I wanted.

I paid cash.  I did not take out a loan.  I did not sacrifice any other want or desire in life in order to buy my Corvette.

I consider my Corvette to be a means to something I enjoy very much (driving a sports car).  I consider the price to be fair for the amount of pleasure I get out of it.

I am sure that at some point the value of the car will go down and that is fine with me.  I think the pleasure than I gain is worth the price.

I expect it to be like my 2002 Camaro Z28.  I got 21 years of pleasure driving from it and I do not feel it owes me a dime.

Do you think buying my 2002 Camaro Z28 in 2002 was a mistake?  Do you think buying my 2023 Corvette in 2022 was a mistake?

Hmm let me get this straight..

Joe - Complaining about the housing market all day long and struggling to purchase a home but still choose to fling money for hobbies instead (claiming it's for investment purposes, lol)

TheProwler - Has 6 digit income, can afford a house/all necessity, then he choose to buy a $90,000 sports car with room to spare (charity).
