Sounds like Texas will need Ace and his dump truck & pony!  My old Kenworth will BLAST through that mess, and help clean up, but only if the rates are OK!

All kidding aside, I can't do that...  You have illegal Mexicans to clean up that mess!

Quote from: "kiebers"So we had an 800 year flood. Not 100 year, not 500 year, but an 800 year flood. There is no dyke system in the world that would have helped. Besides if you do some checking, we did build a flood reservoir system with dykes/dams. So tell me J0E if you were planning things back in 1837 would you have planned on 50 inches of rain falling in 5 days knowing the average rainfall is 49".

Move a city???? Really???? Move a city???? Move a city with a population of 6.5/7 million. You know, almost twice the population of British Columbia. Tell me J0E, how you gonna move a city that big.

That full head of hair must suck everything out of your brain cause you sure ain't talking with any brain power. No wonder you never have a clue....they starved to death.

This is a time lapse of some Houston flooding from 9:30pm on August 26th to around noon on August 27th.

At 1:20 a guy drives his truck into the flooded car park, gets stuck, and has to leave on foot.

Just to give you a little more perspective....Something around 15 trillion gallons of water was dropped on Houston. We still had a day of rain left when they said enough water was dropped to run Niagara Falls for 15 days. I imagine a few days could be added to that now.

Here's an article which appeared one year ago warning about the next big storm to hit Houston:

We did not need a warning. We are all aware of this fact. Those of us on the Gulf coast have always been aware of what can and probably will happen. I would imagine this is not the first time a storm like this has hit the Texas coast in the Houston area. After all we only have semi accurate weather data for the last 250 years. That's 0.000005502972% of Earths data. Y'all have earth quakes...Why don't you move your cities somewhere where there are no earth quakes.

Well K, methinks if yer not gonna move Houston or New Orleans, y'all down South will seriously have to consider re-building those city on floating partitions. Floating Bridges, and airports too? I think they have already implemented that concept in other coastal cities or places with highly volatile geography. ie - Japan. Holland too:

http://www.businessinsider.com/netherlands-floating-houses-2015-12">http://www.businessinsider.com/netherla ... es-2015-12">http://www.businessinsider.com/netherlands-floating-houses-2015-12

QuoteMore than half the people living in the Netherlands live below sea level.

As sea levels rise, things are getting more and more complicated: there's less land to build on, and plumbing becomes difficult.

The solution? Floating houses. In fact, Amsterdam's Ijburg neighborhood is the first floating neighborhood, and has 97 houses.

"We think that sustainability on the water can work even better than sustainability on land," Koen Olthuis, an architect who designs floating buildings, told the Associated Press. Olthuis's firm has built dozens of floating houses and office buildings throughout the Netherlands.

So if this was to occur, Houston would not be the first. Ecological disaster/flooding now a fact of life in the world, especially with this global warming/melting of the polar ice caps. Whether it's caused by man or Nature's cycles is a matter of debate. But whatever is to blame, It'll jes get worse, K.

Anyways, I read 30 people perished/died in this latest disaster:

'In solidarity with the victims of Harvey,' Taiwan pledges to donate $800,000 in disaster relief to Houston

Taiwanese people don't have a lot in common with Texans. But while they're separated by culture, language, and 8,000 miles of ocean, they do know what it's like to shelter under punishing tropical storms.

As the city of Houston focuses on rescue efforts after Hurricane Harvey, Taiwan is looking toward reconstruction. "The government of Republic of China (Taiwan)," its Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Wednesday, "has decided to donate $800,000 for local governments and community disaster relief efforts."

According to a translated excerpt of the statement provided to the Washington Examiner, the decision stems from a shared sense of "solidarity with the victims of Harvey because Taiwan experiences typhoons every summer and fall."

This makes me very happy.

The fund raising has been pretty awesome. One of our football stars JJ Watt started a relief fund that is up to almost 8 million now. Fully expect it to break the 10 mil goal. Lots of awesomeness going on in Texas.
