she is our MP btw. how utterly embarrassing:(

Eating seal meat is eating seal meat. There are millions of those adorable, doe-eyed little suckers just sitting around practically begging to be clubbed and eaten.

But many of the sharks caught for shark fin soup are endangered, and the sharks aren't even eaten! They cut off the fin and throw the shark back in the ocean!

Shark fin soup is overkill. It's gotta be done more sustainably.

Romero

No, it's legal in Canada to import fins from sharks that are just thrown back into the ocean. This is why so many municipalities are trying to ban it.

70 million sharks a year. Sharks aren't going to last very long at this rate.

Romero

Hmm, I keep finding different things. It's legal, it's not illegal...

I just don't like how things are going. 70 million a year is too much.

Same here. I'll be honest, I've eaten shark fin soup many times. However, I would definitely draw the line if I knew it was an endangered shark species and only the fins were harvested. That is ghastly.

sorry......i'm pretty much opposed to too may rules.....but needlessly killing animals for a couple of body parts just rubs me the wrong way......if i saw someone cutting sharks that way or eating fin soup knowing the rest of the animal had been wasted, i would get right in there face and reduce their comfort level somewhat.

most humans deserve what they get.....animals do not...why the fuck would you kill a Rhino or any other large mammals that are endangered.......now coyotes are a whole nother story

k.s.ethan

I'm pretty sure Toronto has banned shark fin for some time now.

there are a whole litany of animal parts ...cruel & a total waste

those animals in Q are left to die cruely in most cases

I think we can all agree that is repulsive. If a whole animal carcass is harvested and it is not an endangered species it would be wasteful not to use the entire carcass for human consumption. The other problem I have is municipalities overstepping their bounds.

Government dictating how we live our lives basically.. on that note we agree.

I thought that now that viagra has been invented that the chinese would stop slaughtering endangered animals for chinese medicine however it appears that I was sadly mistaken

Beautiful mammals worldwide are at risk because of China

They are wiping out the Rhino and elephant populations in Africa
