I recorded a nature show about palm cockatoos.....the largest cockatoo..

They are only in the extreme North East of Australia.

They are the size of South America's macaws, perhaps even bigger.

Very few have seen them in the wild because of their remoteness and the harsh terrain they live in.



There has been a pic posted in the Birds Of Oz Facebook group from a member in Queensland, but I don't know the location it was taken.

They're in the tropical parts of Northern Queensland.

They are only found at the tip of Cape York Peninsula. That is a very remote area with highly restricted access. Only a single road connects it to Far North Queensland (It is further north than the general area known as Far North Queensland). There are no towns in that area, nor amenities. Its largest population would be salt water crocodiles.



"This species is in high demand for the pet trade due to its unusual appearance."



"Black Palm Cockatoos for Sale. $10,000.00" from an illegal animal trade site.
