Did a little research when I posted that. Trying to figure out who he was here with in the 70's. Thinking it was Gerry Rafferty or Manfred Mann or if all 3 were here the same night. No luck on that but I did run across that info while I was looking. Not claiming any credit. But it did stick in my mind...well for a few days anyway. Spooky Tooth.

Wishbone Ash has been around since 1969. They've recorded quite a bit over the years. Their most commercially successful album was Argus, released in 1972. It's a great album and this song is my favorite:

I suppose Blues Image could be labeled a "one hit wonder." After all, they had only one hit. But, what a hit it was! Ride Captain Ride is one of those songs I wouldn't change a single thing about, even if I could:

This song was huge in 1972. I remember watching the Jihadis killing all them Jews at the Munich Olympics and this song was playing on the radio that whole summer.
It's also got one of the greatest guitar riff hooks of all time. Sometimes I'll dig out my electric guitar just to play riffs like this really loud.
Badfinger was a great Welsh band. Badfinger was a tragic band. Of the four original members, only one survives. Pete Ham hanged himself. Tom Evans did the same thing several years later. Badfinger did leave us a catalogue of great music. This tune is particularly excellent:

Perhaps #2 song of the 70's.
Trapeze was excellent band from the 70's I wish I could've seen live. I did, however, buy two of their albums. FYI, Glen Hughes left to join Deep Purple; Mel Galley later played with Whitesnake; and last, but not least, Dave Holland drummed several years for Judas Priest.
This song is from Trapeze's 2nd album, Medusa:

Alvin Lee of Ten Years After was one of my favorite guitarists. Sadly, he passed in 2013 from a routine surgical procedure that went wrong. Anyway, the curious thing to me about TYA is that they had only one top 40 song, namely, this one. And it is a dandy:
Amen.
Another great classic rock tune I've gotta stick in here. Savoy Brown was headed by Kim Simmonds from its formation in 1965 until his death from colon cancer in December 2023:
Amen.
I was surprised to read that this song climbed to only #51 on the charts. Nevertheless, it's held up very well over time. As you probably know, James Gang front man Joe Walsh went on to join The Eagles after going solo for a while:
Amen.
I first heard this song played by a local band in a club I worked at back in the 70's. I loved it, but didn't discover until much later that it was a Fleetwood Mac song from their 1970 album Kiln House. It was written by former band member Danny Kirwan. He joined the band at the age of 18 in 1968 and was fired after a breakdown in 1972. His talent, however, was undeniable:

Stealers Wheel was formed in 1972 in Scotland by pals Joe Egan and Gerry Rafferty. Both are now deceased, but their music lives on. "Stuck in the Middle" is their most well-known song, but by no means is it their only good one. They were very melodic and I've always liked this one from 1973:

Toys In The Attic which, IMHO, is Aerosmith's best album. That said, I must confess I haven't listened to every single thing they've produced. There are pros and cons to doing that. In another thread, someone said AC/DC always sounds the same. But, that's one of the things I like about them - they have their own sound and they don't stray too far from it.
I began listening to ZZ when their second album
Rio Grande Mud came out. In line with what you're saying, that album and
Tres Hombres (their 3rd album) are the only ones I have. And I have no desire to acquire any others. That said, however, they are a treasure to watch live. Dusty Hill's replacement has turned out to be a great fit, too.

Good one. It's a cover of a song written by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac. It was released in 1970:
As for what the song is about, this is from Wikipedia:
"The song was written during Green's final months with the band, at a time when he was using LSD heavily. While there are several theories about the meaning of the title "Green Manalishi", Green always maintained that the song is about money, as represented by the devil. Green was reportedly angered by the other band members' refusal to share their financial gains.
Green has explained that he wrote the song after experiencing a drug-induced dream in which he was visited by a green dog which barked at him from the afterlife. He understood that the dog represented money. "It scared me because I knew the dog had been dead a long time. It was a stray and I was looking after it. But I was dead and had to fight to get back into my body, which I eventually did. When I woke up, the room was really black and I found myself writing the song." Green wrote the lyrics the following day in Richmond Park."
Interesting.
