Quote from: J E B Stuart on November 19, 2025, 01:09:35 AMThere is a ton of history, but we can start with this - Fleetwood Mac was formed in 1967 by Peter Green. It was Green who named his band "Fleetwood Mac", which was derived from the names of drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie.  Interestingly, Green left his band in 1970, while Fleetwood and McVie remain with the band to this day.  Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham didn't get onboard until 1967.

Here's an excellent number  from 1969 on their third album "Then Play On", from the Peter Green era:

Amen.

Man, did they change their sound.

I have Who's Next on vinyl. I think it's their best and I used to listen to it a lot. I've seen The Who in concert. Funny thing, though. I haven't listened to much of their stuff in years. Oh well. It's still good. There's just not enough time to listen to everything you'd like. And I have liked this song from the first time I heard it:

Amen.

Formed in 1967, Chicago is not only one of the best-selling bands of all time, they're still recording and touring. I saw 'em in concert a number of years ago, although it was well after the untimely death of the great Terry Kath, original member, guitarist and vocalist. For those of you unfamiliar, Kath unintentionally blew his brains out eight days before his 32nd birthday.

They've referred to themselves as "a rock band with horns". I listened to this song a lot many years ago. Released from their 2nd album in 1970, it features Kath on lead vocals and is still damn

I thought Peter Cetera was their original singer.

Old bean, this is what Wikipedia sez:

"... (Kath) played lead guitar and sang lead vocals on many of the band's early hit singles alongside Robert Lamm and Peter Cetera."

I did not know that anybody other than Peter Cetera sang for Chicago until he went solo.

Yeah. And what a shame about Kath. He was a guitar playin' fool.

I can't say I was ever a Chicago fan. Don't get me wrong, I have heard worse. But, I never bought a Chicago album, CD or even a song from I-tunes.

I like Southern rock and some classic guitar based Canadian bands.
