Quote from: J E B Stuart on July 24, 2025, 06:33:32 PMHere's some interesting trivia fer ya - Rickey Medlocke was raised by his maternal grandparents. His Grampa was Paul "Shorty" Medlocke, a musician. Well, "Ttain, Train" was written by Shorty and he plays harmonica on the Blackfoot recording of "Train, Train".

Here's Shorty's original recording of "Train, Train":

Amen.
I have seen that video of Shorty before.

Closer To Home was one of the first albums I ever owned. On top of that, I've seen Grand Funk Railroad at least a half dozen times over the years. They've made a lotta hit music over a long career.  I consider this to be their magnum opus:

Thin Lizzy was an Irish band led by Phil Lynott. He is yet another artist who died way too soon.  He was only 36.

I bought the Jailbreak album when it came out. This song from that album was released in 1976.  It wasn't a big hit, but it is one of their best:

Amen.

I liked a few songs by Thin Lizzy. Everybody knows The Boys are Back in Town.

This rocker was underrated in my opinion.

Old Phil was another talented rock n roller taken too early because his habits controlled him.

I saw Bachman-Turner Overdrive live many years ago. Powerful concert!  So, I'm in the mood for me some BTO right here and right now. This is one of their biggest hits and most memorable songs:

A good working man's band. I liked the songs Fred Turner sang better than the ones Randy Bachman sang. let It Ride was their best tune.

I have a difficult time picking an absolute favorite with these guys. Let It Ride is superb, but so is Takin' Care Of Business. That said, I'll also add this number to the pile. It wasn't a huge hit, but it's one o' my favorites (I may have already posted it in the covers thread, but so what if I did?):  :pardon:

Amen.

I was born in a small town near Winnipeg. The Bachmans and Burton Cummings are rock royalty in that city.

Personally, I like the Guess Who better than BTO.

I like 'em both. A lot.  And both bands figure prominently in the soundtrack of my youth.

This Guess Who number didn't chart well. To be precise, it made it to #63 in OZ.  That's it. That puzzles me because it is really, really good. . . . One of many Bachman/Cummings masterpieces:
