Quote from: J E B Stuart on June 23, 2025, 11:58:35 PMMan. Sad to hear that. And I had no idea he'd essentially been out of commission since 2016:

"Ralphs has been in a nursing facility since he suffered a stroke in 2016."

Amen.
I didn't know that either.

I've seen The Marshall Tucker Band twice. Formed in 1972, they're still going strong, although Doug Gray is the only original member. Nevertheless, nobody else sounds like them. This 1973 release is one of my favorites from their first album:

Amen.

Harry Nilsson was an incredibly productive and successful songwriter, who also recorded a number of successful tunes. Sadly, he died in his early 50s. Still, you've likely heard many songs written by him without realizing it. All that aside, while this wasn't his most successful number performed by him, it is my favorite:

Amen.

I'm on that same alley, amigo. I thought about a follow-up post of the outstanding "Can't You See", but it's an obvious go-to song. So, although it wasn't a chartbuster, I'm posting this because it is one of my favorites.  It's from their 1974 album Where We All Belong.  Note too, that Toy Caldwell sings lead instead of MTB's lead vocalist Doug Gray:

Amen.

The Eagles have been with us since 1971. Over the years, they have sold over two hundred million albums. I like 'em alright, but i haven't bought a thing by them since their third album On The Border.  In that regard, OTB is one of those rare albums that come by from time to time where everything in it is good.  From that album, this is one of my favorite Eagles tune:

Amen.

They are one of Mom's fave English language bands.

I bet yer sweet Momma really likes this one, too. Jamoie is the only original member of The Allman Brothers Band remaining alive. They were formed in 1969 and this beaut of a song from 1973 is every bit as good as the day it was released:

Blackfoot is a Southern Rock band formed in 1970. They've had some success here 'n' there.  They're also known for guitarist Rickey Medlocke bouncing back and forth between Blackfoot and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

From a personal standpoint, the thing about Blackfoot is that they're one of those bands I wish I could like more than I do. Try as I might, the truth is they have only a coupla songs that stand out for me.  On the bright side, I really, really like one of those songs.  It stands apart from the crowd and is one of those classics where everything fell into place just right. And come to think of it, since it is a classic, that makes  perfect sense:

Amen.

Here's some interesting trivia fer ya - Rickey Medlocke was raised by his maternal grandparents. His Grampa was Paul "Shorty" Medlocke, a musician. Well, "Ttain, Train" was written by Shorty and he plays harmonica on the Blackfoot recording of "Train, Train".

Here's Shorty's original recording of "Train, Train":
