Believe me, I understand what you meant, living with a raging alcoholic. Its just that we all heard for years how great it would be if they legalized dope and of course it isnt. We were told this new industry would provide great jobs, increase tax revenue, and would not increase the numbers of chronic pot smokers. Only one of those predictions by Trudeau was true. Even with additional revenue he still can't find enough transfer payment money to provinces for health care or lower our taxes.

I can't claim to know a lot about Trudeau; things are so fucked up here in 'Murica and with 'Murica's foreign policies that I simply haven't been paying much attention to Canada's domestic politics.

But if he's anything at all like our own politicians the fault lies in a basic disregard if not outright disdain for the average citizen. While he/they might make noises with their face holes about fixing this or that to improve the lives of all citizens it's just hollow promises they don't believe or have any intention of following through on.

He/they say whatever they think people want to hear in order to preserve the illusion of consensual governance but as soon as the elections are over they only serve the interests of themselves, their family, their cronies, and their donors. The people who voted for them can get fucked.

That's not necessarily a failing of any one policy or initiative... it's abandonment and neglect and intentional mismanagement that dooms an otherwise useful policy to failure by not doing the things that would help it succeed.

Because they can make more money by letting it fail, usually by siphoning cash out of the programs that were supposed to improve people's lives.

As George Carlin said: "They don't give a fuck about you."
