I'm not entirely sure how much of it is a result of being duped and how much it is a result of having bought into the lie and being unwilling to admit error. The average leftie has had their brains either completely fired or completely washed. A little of both columns I suspect.

In the face of defeat, they did not reassess what went wrong, they simply blamed you and people like you and swore you would suffer as their hearts suffered. And their authoritative sources were only too happy for fan the flames of their discontent.

They're destroyed, most of them. I'm sorry; I guess you know a few, I do too. I didn't do it to them... I was simply content to get on with my own life while scores of them tried to convince me that their plans for how everyone should live were superior and should take ultimate precedent. Quite a few were mortified that I did not accede to their whims, some likely still hate my guts to this day, but that is their problem. I'm not about to make their problems mine and neither should you.

It's true, I've seen it happen before. Back in the 1990s there was this schoolteacher by the name of Joan Kirner who assumed the role of Premier of the state of Victoria, Australia, right after her predecessor John Cain stepped down from the position. Hey, he at least got the state back on it's feet somewhat... by stitching up corrupt deals with casino operators and international sporting organisations. Shit that the corruption watchdogs were still getting to the bottom of 20 years on.

And don't get me started on the shit he allowed the police force to get away with openly. Amnesty International were screaming blue bloody murder at people getting dragged about by their necks for the crime of sitting crosslegged in front of schools he had ordered closed.

And Victorians kept voting for both parties.
