True enough. With AI facial recognition software, pretty much anyone could do it by now. Simple reverse image search and your likeness could be traced and matched, revealing any and all information associated with it.

Even if the information is erroneous, enough repetition of the lie of it being you is enough. The general reaction of Joe Normie being something along the lines of the question "do I really need this heat" is usually going to cause problems for the target, because often enough the answer is "hell no".

That said, it's not the guaranteed killshot that wankers like Flange would like to pretend that it is. As a first hand recipient of having been doxxed multiple times (the first being nineteen years ago at Chat Chimps) I can tell you that it's never slowed me down any. Not even when poor faith actors took to doxxing the people and businesses I was associated with did it slow me down, nor did I consider it necessary to stoop to what I regard as an essentially weak sauce tactic myself.

YMMV of course, but if you or anyone else interpret doxxing in and of itself as something to fear, then you are handing these lackwits their win straight out of the gate. Which is more or less what they are doing it for. I don't see why anyone should make it that easy for them, but that's just my way of thinking.

From my earliest days on the interwurb I've never invested much effort into hiding my identity; not so much to flummox people who considered doxxing a big deal but because I just didn't feel any need. Of course as it turned out it *was* funny to watch someone poast my name as a silly kind of 'gotcha' when most of the readers already knew that information. Their consternation when I laughed instead of freaking out was worth its weight in gold.

I don't share quite so much about my real life these days but that's more out of consideration for family, friends, and coworkers than any personal concern about that kind of stuff.
