I might have to upgrade from 4G to 5 G tomorrow and since I am technically illiterate with anything computer I am a bit worried.

If you don't see me much it's because I am trying to source a new phone.

Just when you start getting used to your product they make you change everything and that really riles me.... it cost hundreds of dollars to do all this messing around.

It's a security thing. Apparently my Samsung Galaxy A12 won't be able to get updates until it won't work anymore

Kurt's got only 3G. He keeps getting a warning pop-up.... I don't get the warning pop-up but I went to settings to upgrade to 5G so eventually I will have to replace the phone because there was no 5G there.

Also, I never upgrade anyway. I don't really trust security. I reckon it's a racket.

I will soon know tomorrow if the sky is going to fall on my head.

Why do we need to upgrade to 5G?

5G is essentially better in every way because it's faster, has lower latency, and may potentially have more coverage than 4G. However, coverage is still growing, so those benefits aren't always obvious. Additionally, it can sometimes use more battery power than 4G, so smartphone battery life might be reduced.

I think it's all bullshit actually.

Australia will close its 3G network.

There are, however, some devices in Australia that might show as being 4G connected to the user, but because they are not capable of "VoLTE" (Voice over LTE/4G), they won't be able to call Triple Zero.

Users of these phones might think they are good to go after the 3G shut down because they do have a 4G phone, but it won't be until the worst possible time - when they need it most - they find out they cannot call Triple Zero.

A Telstra spokesperson explained to 9News.com.au that some older 4G mobile phones require a 3G network to make calls to Triple Zero.

"This is a hardware feature built into the design of the phone by the manufacturer and it is a global, industry-wide issue that many countries have already worked through as they have closed their 3G networks," the spokesperson said.

The ol' man used to be a telephone technician. As kids we used to pull the old crank phones apart and use the magneto and crank to shock other kids at school. Good ol' days! Lol.

Get him to order a Samsung Galaxy 4G S10 or S10 plus from Ebay or other market place. That's what I reverted to in order to stay away from 5G and still get 90% of the bells and whistles of modern Galaxies but without AI or and that other shit. Plus they have a traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack instead of solely Bluetooth.
