But the good thing about democracy is parties will have to improve to win, and it's hard for groups to last long enough to be horribly corrupted unlike most 3rd world countries.

The opposition is various degrees of the same. If I do vote in this upcoming election, it'll probably be for a party that doesn't currently have seats in parliament.
