You do know that puts out 150 Watts, right?

This is where I got the idea.  Shipping to Canada requires a "Contact Me" and god knows how high freight/customs charges.

I can make what he sells, and by possibly incorporating an in-line fuse, make it even better.

Contact him and find out.  DUH.

Why?  I can make it myself just as good, and for less.

Angry White Male

In fact, I can make it better.  That's why I inquire about in-line fuse.

Actually, I more want to know what a proper fuse rating would be to run a 7 Watt bulb, taking into account variables like peaks and spikes.

Basically, enough to always solidly run the light, but would trip the second even a minor short is detected.  Although I can do a good job shielding the bulb from the outdoor environment, I always like to "over-do" my work.

You only need fuses for power not light.

It would be a wired bulb that plugs into the wall.

GORDY GAMBINO

In that case the lectricity fuse would protect it. Hope you have circuit breakers not fuses.

Fuses and a light bulb....how much power do you plan on using??  You plan on blowing the whole grid??

Quote from: "Angry White Male"Here's the deal.  I've decided to feed some Hummingbirds that have decided to make their home around here for the Winter.

There's a bit of a cold-snap that has hit here, and temps are now consistently at or below freezing, day and night.  This creates an issue trying to keep the sugar-water from freezing.

Now, I have seen a design online that utilizes the heat from a 7 Watt night-light blub mounted underneath the feeder in an "enclosure."  This is apparently just enough to keep the feeder from freezing.

This is a very simple wiring and install job for me, but there's one thing I wonder about, since I'm not an electrician...  Since this is obviously going to be used outdoors, are there any tips or precautions I should know about?  The biggest thing I was wondering about was if it would be prudent for me to wire in some kind of in-line fuse with a trip amperage far less than the trip amperage of the fuse in my main electrical box?

My husband has a master electrician designation..

I don't know about this specifically, but I know it's an easy thing to do.

Hey Mel, just put some red food colouring in that sterno you drink and feed that to the fucking birds. That shit don't freeze.

This thread is hilarious, Ace wasted his wife's cat with a howitzer but he is concerned about a couple of shitty, hummingbirds. He'll probably shoot them too when he sees that his electric bill went up 5 cents. :laugh3:

You can't make this shit up.

BTW, does anyone else get the feeling that this drunken idiot will end up electrocuting these frickin birds?

Hey Ace, ever think of just increasing the sugar content of the syrup and wrapping the feeder in some pipe insulation?

Start with the easy shit. If that doesn't work, dry out and then attempt to apply some electricity. Remember, just don't lick the receptacle unless it has a GFI.
